I'm sure your new thread will take off just fine. :-6
Wow, no snow by you. We've had our fair share of the white stuff since November! It's been a very LONG winter so far. And, that groundhog on the 2nd of February, I'm sure, will forecast another 6 more weeks of winter.
It's awesome though, with all the snow covering the ground and trees and watching all the wildlife, especially the numerous birds come in to feed. :-4
I was telling my hubby that we need to buy some cross country skiis and give that a go. It looks like it would be a fun winter activity!
My son, Andy, has just told me that you have to be super fit to do the cross-country skiing, and I believe him, having seen the winter olympics!!! Mind you, what a lovely way to keep fit and stay trim :-6

Ducky, all we have to show for winter here is frozen frosty roads, frosty trees and shrubs when the temp drops below freezing. Oh it's quite pretty, and the trees look all fairy-like, but it just aint the same without the snow........ grrrrrrrrrrrrr:(
I've got to go out now, so catch you all later :-4 :driving:

Oh yes, I'm sure one has to be quite fit to do this activity and it sure would add to any fitness program. Hubby and I hike all the time. And who couldn't loose a few pounds here or there.
After Sunday you may want to look into getting those skis:wah:

i love the avatars you put up on your posts !!
MANY YEARS AGO !! i took a summer job at the first ever western riding school in england which gave me my long lasting love affair with anything " cowboy " i then went on to teach for a good many years.
the only draw back was trying to explain to the young men that came to ride, that it wasnt like a john wayne movie where the horses appeared to gallop for miles with out stopping for a breather !!!
some of them couldnt understand why we wernt carrying loaded guns either

Sounds totally amazing, Mussy !!!!! Can you post any pics ?? Wow, you are sooo lucky ! I am really a country girl, but I live in the suburbs of Nottingham at the moment, but hopefully not for too much longer. Desperately need to get away from crowded houses and too many people and the attendant noise and anti-social behaviour !

And it is Gill! The winter months tend to be a little long but we love it, I just could'nt live in the city just not for me. I hope one day you get your wish and get back to the country yourself. Heck the store is 25 miles away but you learn to deal with it in the winter months and buy things in two's.

Every big game animal in the state is in my back yard and we enjoy feeding every one of them.
One day when i get some free time i will post some pics. You will love them.

Hi Helen, what's the delay ? Is somebody supposed to be picking you up ?
Thanks for the weather forecast Mrs !!!! We haven't got any central heating !!!
They haven't even sent an assessor round yet !!!! Good job we've got our two halogen heaters - we're keeping in the living room except when we need to go to the kitchen, and we have one of the heaters in there. The loos are bloody cold, and the rest of the house is! The living room dropped down to 52 f from 70 f over night, because we turned the heater off - fortunately the dog has a fur coat !

Thanks for asking, Ducky, but the answer is no - nothing heard yet, no phone call, no visit, nothing. So long as our electricity holds up, we should be OK. What gets me is that they don't know that we have managed to organise cooking, a bit of hot water (kettle and shower), and some heating (sitting room and kitchen).
Yes we have phoned them

I bet he would have done the job by now !! It's always the same Ducky, a tradesman always leaves his own home at the bottom of the list
I remember when my dad needed a lot of electrical wiring, and burglar alarms installed throughout his shop (a chemist shop). Len, the electrician did a wonderful job and so very neat and unobtrusive, and the alarm system was excellent. However when his wife came into the shop, dad showed her Len's work and said how pleased he was that Len had done such a good job. His wife apparently had a strange look on her face - sort of envious, and said that there was wiring bulging out in various different parts of her house, waiting to be properly hidden and neatened up. There were also two wall plugs with dangerously exposed wiring!
I suppose it's a case of the poor chap has been doing electrical things all day and just wants a break from it when he gets home
Try to be patient, I expect he will get round to doing those jobs - when it affects him badly enough to galvanise him into sorting them !

Hello everybody ! The above pic could be what we may look like in England on Sunday or Monday ! Pretty pic, but very cold, particularly when you aint got any gas central heating - and there could be power cuts as well, if the electricity workers join in with the trouble over bringing in foreign workers instead of using British workers !! Well it's been a long time coming, but maybe the UK working man has at last had enough of being shat on with the consent of the useless government!
We had a letter from contractors used by 'Warm Front' this morning, saying they will be sending an assessor to see what needs to be done. It has only taken 2 weeks to get to this point, so I suppose it could be another 2 weeks plus, for an assessment to be made. Then possibly another 2 weeks plus to start any work. Then we will be into Spring and hopefully better weather !
I just hope things can be done and dusted before the heat (!!??) of the summer. At least then, whoever buys this house, will have a reasonable central heating system to enjoy when next winter arrives !! :-5

Hi Helen, I think you should try to just carry on and put this to the back of the shelf. You have to think of your future and what is best for you, for a change - it's a shame that they seem to be like that. It is also bad that your daughter just couldn't ring you to let you know! She must have known you were packing and getting ready to come over ffs. I wonder how she would feel if it was the other way round !!! You'd never hear the end of it ! Still, maybe things have happened at her end, and it made things awkward. Doesn't excuse her not phoning you though - just mean !
Don't feel uncomfortable, Helen, you have to think about yourself, and they will have to accept what you decide to do. They've got cars haven't they ? They know you don't drive, they know you have to go where you can find a place to live, and with your Wally. I suppose you may find out what went on in a few days. :-3

I don't like ringing British Telecom - as you say they speak English, but I can't understand what they say either, and I get fed up with asking them to repeat things and speak slower. I have heard, though, that BT are supposed to be changing their customer service back to the UK - not before time for me :-5
