Agreed, Carolly. It's the bus route that has me in stitches. And it's the kind of tossaway line I get most mornings here at the brekkie table. Not that I'm saying the bloke I'm shacked up with and Spot have much in common... gorblimey.... now that's a thought....

I am not superstitious Carolly and don't fear any of these things. I do think some days, some times, some places are mysterious- and am respectful of other people's beliefs, mostly. Personally, I've always liked Friday 13th. But then I dance around oak trees wearing only flowers or a garland of willow, talk to the sea, and listen to bees.
Some superstitions / fears may be linked to old religions or tradtions or past happenings linked to bad things or echo ancient ideas... spilling salt, breaking mirrors, black cats, being left handed, having three nipples. Different cultures use different colours to celebrate life, death etc. The colours themselves are neutral, but have taken on meaning, or are they neutral??? Does yellow itself contain a life affirming idea. Is Virgin mary blue the true aura of purity?
There are more things in heaven and earth.... etc
Which is all a bit of confused rambling on.. before morning coffee - on this sad Sydney Wednesday, as the fire death toll rises towards the 200 mark. Wednesday - the day of Woden, Wotan, Odin - leader of the wild hunt. In Latin cultures the day is called after the Roman God Mercury - Hermes - messenger of the Gods and patron of merchants.
Maybe the apparently millions of people who do regard Friday 13th as a fateful day, have in fact somehow imbued fatefulness into the day, in reality, given it real bad vibes.. Maybe the fact so many people consider the day unlucky made me - always agin the government - take the opposite view, so that for me the day has actually now become lucky. I shall buy a lottery ticket!

There is a time and place for clothes, Carolly... :sneaky: Especially little wispy lacy things in gold silk... er but I digress.... and of course if it's snowing.....

yeah, clothes could prevent frostbite of unmentionable areas.

Hi Kaz!! MrsK !!!
Thinking of birdcages.. there was a very odd bird perched on the tree outside my balcony here - which usually only has rainbow lorikeets. Romy and I researched madly till we finally found it was a channel-billed cuckoo, rather a long way from its usual habitat. To bring myself back on track - maybe its visit is related to Friday 13th, and it was trying to say, in broad Ocker Strine (Australian dialect) 'Nevermore'!!

It's been raining steadily for a couple of hours.
Today was a very windy day, kids reacted .
Every time we have really windy days the kids get over excited & tend to throw
the best ever tantrums etc.
I was told where to go several times today, in no uncertain terms:-5
Monday will be better:-6:-6

i actually don't find the number 13 unlucky at all!
when my husband was playing soccer he was number 13, the day he had wore another shirt that wasn't 13, he blew he knee out and had to quit the team and ended up having knee surgery!
and of course it was in our 13th year of trying to conceive that we had Jacob!
