Just a little update ....

I'm in my 3rd week of college. There are 17 other students in my class. The age range is 19 to mid 40's and the girls are all lovely. We have 2 tutors (1 for our Tuesday class and 1 for our Thursday class) and they are both a hoot. Everything is very relaxed. The work is hard but we all help each other out. I love it! :-4

I have an interview at a special needs school for a placement this Thursday :D

My placement fell through today. I got a call to say that the school could only offer me 1 morning a week. I need 2 mornings to complete the practical section of the course.

Take the 1 and something else may come up somewhere else.

Get them to check for other places you can go to.

If not, just do the one for the time being,something may change.

I'm sorry to hear that hunni. The school know you need 2 mornings and it's not like it's costing them anything, you're free labour to them. Why not have a word with the head teacher, tell him/her that you HAVE to do 2 mornings for your course and tell her you'll take anything he/she can offer you. It's better for you to have continuity with the same kids and it's better for them too. They need to get used to you before they can work well for you. I'm sure they'll reconsider once they realise how important it is to you. Best of luck. :yh_hugs

Try all the schools near you and see if they can help. If not, ask your tutor if she has some suggestions. You don't want to travel too far as you're not being paid.

This seems to be such a ridiculous situation to me! You're giving free help in order to learn... and the head is turning you down! How ridiculous! If you find a better school you could even offer them the 2 mornings and give this one the cold shoulder! You don't need someone crabby on your back giving you grief, when you're simply trying to help and learn! :-5

I have 2 other schools in mind that I'll call tomorrow. I need 8 hours a week in a school setting and I can't get away with any less than that. I'll flunk the course otherwise.

We'll see what tomorrow brings. I'm trying to stay positive
