That's great news Peg! ugh, another month to go.

a shorter cast should be easier to get around with.

I went to the doctor today. No shorter cast. :( Spiral breaks take longer to heal, he doesn't want to risk it while it is healing well. I just don't understand why he got my hopes up last time then.

ah sorry peg.. you must be so disappointed. God i only had a cast to my knee but i wasnt allowed to put any weight on it i was round the bend i can tell ya,,, specially as it kept on snowing so i couldnt even hardly get out with crutches or wheelchair:wah: when i went to get my appointment to go back to have the cast taken off and they told me it would have to be a week later than it should as doc was on hols i nearly cried there and then:-5its so much more inconvenient than you ever think it will be till you are in that position yourself,, and im afraid to say takes a lot longer to heal then you would think as well.

treat yourself to a huge box of chocs or summat to cheer yourself up:)

I know it is hard to understand but with your arthritis nothing can be risked when bones are healing. It will be off soon and it will be beautiful. :-4

It is better to let it heal longer, and be feeling better. Here's hoping it comes off the next time the doc says it might!

I'm so sorry to hear this news. I 'almost' know how you feel. I broke my ankle and was in different casts for 11 weeks. It's very frustrating especially since you have a full cast....yipes !!!

Feel better Peg....:-6

He was just being deviously thoughtful, and keeping from you "up-front" just how long you really were going to have to be miserable. Better to be safe, then rush things, and then be sorry that the healing didn't go as planned. Well, you're almost there now, just a little longer! (be strong, easier said then done)

My advice for you Peg is to not put off your rehab. Exercise that leg back to strength because you will absolutely regret it if you don't. I know it may feel fine to walk on after you get the cast off but exercise it anyway...

Just my advice...

Close to my ankle in 4 places. The weight of the cast, standing on one leg, etc. is killing the rest of my body. Another broken bone is a possibility because of osteoporosis. I'm on a pill for it and I will not and cannot afford to miss taking it.

Praying that damn cast comes off..!! I would have taken it off myself by now but I don't follow doctor's orders well. :wah: It has been a long haul so keep positive and ask for a lighter one with a zipper if you have to keep it. :D

How's it going, Peg? I hope you manage to get around successfully once it's gone. Getting back to normal might take a while but at least you'll not have that casing to drag around.

I hope it comes off today peg:-6 try not to be too down if you feel it should be better and easier to walk than it actually is,,, another week without the cast will make a difference, but spot is right it will still be a good while beofre you are fully recovered.

You are going to die of embarrasment at how hairy your leg is:wah:

These hospital crutches they issue patients with are seriously naff, you know. What you really need is a Gandalf-style wizard's staff and a long cloak. And, I suppose, a beard, but perhaps that's optional.

Oh - and of course the pointy hat!

oh!:thinking:did you not have to go see the physio before you left? tut obviously not duh :wah:oh well im assuming as you have a splint and have to go back in two weeks maybe then you will. Do you have crutches?, i honestly couldn't walk on mine that well straight away, they made me have crutches so i wasn't putting full weight on it till i felt it was stronger, and i was told to do strengthening exercises they gave me.
