I think she's pretty smart. Even bad attention is still attention and as a journalist, she's made a mark.

If I had to count on my stunning good looks rather than my sparkling personality for friends, I'd be in heaps of trouble.:guitarist

The only way I'd consider this woman a journalist is if she kept a journal.

I think she has raised a very important issue and women should really think, not about whether or not she's as beautiful as she claims, but whether or not women are jealous, competitive, foul creatures vying to scratch each others eyes out and falling back to bragging about how great their husbands are whenever they feel threatened.
I'm pretty much on her side as far as feeling women are my most dangerous enemies... And I've had some really nasty things done to me by men.

That's a contradiction In terms. If you really do have a great husband and a very stable and happy marraige, then you never feel threatened. It's only the women who can't keep a man and gets regually dumped that feels threatened every time a beautiful woman comes near her.
Once they finally learn how to keep a man, the threat disappears.
However, In the meantime thy are the women who will protest every five minutes how liberal they are and pour scorn on any woman seen making an observation about another women because they just sooooooooo want the world to think they are a nice person an not the real reason they are home alone In front of the TV with a micro dinner for one.

Koan, I doubt she wrote that article to highlight anything other than her own perceived beauty and desirability.

You don't think she was writing tongue-in-cheek to see what the response would be?

No, I think she's dead serious about it. I also think it's self indulgent bullshit but if the rest of you like to think it was some sort of social experiment, then have at it.

OK yes, she must have had a sense of humour.

She likened herself to Jolie... So I stand by what I said that In comparison to Jolie, she's a pot bellied cart horse.
It's a little like Wayne Rooney looking like a Potato In comparison to Beckham.
And don't even begin to tell me the thought has never occurred to you as a man :wah:
Back soon... I have to go peel some Rooney's

A joke is almost always 'on' some unfortunate, the ugly person, the thick Irish man, someone slipping on a banana skin, that is the nature of humour.

Has anybody got a link to the original article ?
Have I missed it ?
It appears we are all discussing the reaction to an article..... about an article nobody here has read.

Had anyone read the original article before this link being posted ?
I’ve regularly had bottles of bubbly or wine sent to my restaurant table by men I don’t know.................................Even bar tenders frequently shoo my credit card away when I try to settle my bill.
You’d think we women would applaud each other for taking pride in our appearances.
I work at mine — I don’t drink or smoke,
She uses a credit card for fruit juice ?
Or is she buying all the men drinks ?
While I’m no Elle Macpherson, I’m tall, slim, blonde and, so I’m often told, a good-looking woman.
Reading the original puts the so called outcry into context for me.
More publicity for the paper/writer ?

I searched that page and couldn't find it.....................I have now though, on that page.
The second of three links, just above Brad and his women's picture.
You would have thought they would want you to see it, not make you search for it.

More publicity for the paper/writer ?I eat meals or snacks at bars sometimes when a dining table is not available and I don't feel like waiting for one. I don't drink.
Also, perhaps she doesn't currently drink, but that doesn't mean she hadn't in the past.

I tried to pick links to articles and example of how long this particular problem has been an issue no one is welcome to talk about and just couldn't decide which were the best. The evidence is out there and you don't need Mulder and Scully to find it.
I've read the original article and really think that she's not that good of a writer but she is naming a very true and problematic issue with the so called sisterhood.
