I did try calamari once.. taste of nothing to me, like chewing on a rubber band..

Love the smell of mussels being cooked (with all the garlic and stuff) but if I look at them, I gag.

I would like to try snails or escargots once before I die.. I don't think i'll like them, but i'd like to try them once.. (don't let Brian my pet snail hear that though!)

Mushrooms, I've seen them come past as a "Yukkie" food in this thread.. I love them.. Raw!

Cheese is also a fav. Not the stinky blue stuff.. but the dutch "normal" cheese.. brie and goat cheese is also a fav but gives me dicky tummy.

My OH and I managed to eat 1 kilo of cheese in 4,5 days ... (normally that takes us 10 days to finish..).. We buy the Extra belegen or Extra matured cheese.. Gouda cheese - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I actively seek most of those on a menu. I've enjoyed snails in Brussels. Salt beef bagels from Brick lane are heaven. My daughters partner brings me and my wife some home on occasional sundays. Havent had the pleasure of either woodlice or slugs but I did try fried mopani worms in Zimbabwe, though just the once.

My 12 year old grandaughter absolutely loves oysters and regularly eats sushi

funny memory popped into my mind:

When my family and I were on holiday in france. My aunties, grandma and grandad decided to go and get some lunch whilst we went of and did other things.

They ordered what they thought was a platter of fruit.. the french giggled at these silly old english people who spoke not a word of french and where presented with: fruits de mer. Fruits of the sea! YUK. They did eat some of it just to be polite. haha.

It wasn't all Ha Ha's on them.. we ate something similar to: Andouillette - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.. well we had a little bit, thought it tasted funny, chucked up all over the place.. all night... Then mum got the french - english dictionary out.. I wish she hadn't..

Of course you weren't impressed; you need a New York Bagel, & even amongst those you must be careful. I did like octopus omelets in Zurich--hard to believe; it was chewy, like a Chinese Black Mushroom, my favorite food of all. I did have escargot at a London gambling fancy joint, I liked the garlic. Doubt if I'd do it again. Either one.

Ooh. I recall sitting at an outdoor café in Vidauban and eating one of those. Very loose packed, I thought. Very meaty. I had a beer to go with it which helped.

Now, Oscar, you know perfectly well that your last comment just begs for a replying comment from me ! Like they would need 8 legged trousers and huge sleeved shirts. The trousers of course would need a very versatile needlecraft person to accommodate the strange rear shape of the lobster's rear end ! I personally think that to expect Morrisons to even consider dressing a lobster goes way over the top, and far beyond their expected service !

When my dad was dying I dressed up the chicken I was going to cook that night for me & mom in doll baby clothes & shoes. I stuck my hand through it & made it dance. He laughed so hard. It was wonderful, so glad I did that for him!

I tried Amdouillette on one of my trips through France.

In Louisiana, we have Andouille sausage, which I love dearly. I made the connection and decided to try this stuff. Not a great connection, I think.

Guess it wasn't as bad as the time I ordered the Boudin Rouge, thinking it would be a lot like the Boudin Blanc I was used to in Louisiana. Wrong again!

Tea, the nice smell does not match up to the horrible taste!

I am amazed at what people think is bad to eat.

Much of the 'hated' foodstuffs here are at the top of my favourites list.

Fungi and seafood of most any kind (never had squid etc.) Cheese of most types many smelly ones.

Have any of you considered it might not be the item itself but the way it's presented or prepared?

I was told once 'I don't like cheese' another time 'I don't like mashed potato'

There are so many different cheeses the statement makes no sense, some cheeses you wouldn't readily recognise as cheese.

I have tasted mashed potato that might put anybody off eating it forever, another time it's pure nectar, depends on what potatoes and who cooks it.

I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would buy sugarless candy.

or fat free cheese.

Even decaf coffee makes a little more sense. (not much, but a little)
