The Holiday is not happy to me.
Holidays are simular to traditions, and all of our cultures are loaded with traditions. And most of them we have blindly observed and habitually adhered to.
Which is a sure sign that we " Agree with doing it."
Ever wonder why you are agreeing to things that we do? Choices that we make?
Why do we say " Have a good day?"
Then, why do we stop doing certain traditions, like opening doors for women? Or greeting some people and totally ignoring most people?

Did you know that in some cases traditions can actually trample over human rights like a blind stampede of animals running. Look at this link;
The Trouble With Tradition | Human Rights Watch
We get caught up into these ways and means that can somehow masquerade as human rights, when really its just human tradition. Now if the tradition is a good one that has no deception in it and does not exclude people, well then fine. Or if it has no demands on others to join in, then its human choice, not human rights. Speaking to people is not a human right, its a choice. Responding to a greeting is not a human right, its a human choice. Where you live is not a human right, its a human choice; the fact of life is a human right, we all have a right to live. Now , how we live, that's a whole different story which can be affected by human rights and traditions.
And one of the major roots of all human societys, is this very thing this thread is addressing. The traditions of humans does not always cause happiness. It may present that on its surface, but if we look deep within our history; guess what we will normally see?

Now take a look at these traditional greetings from around the world;
Greetings in other cultures
See, this is a worldwide influence on humanity; diverse and deeply entrenched. This kind of stuff does not come from evolution, I think it comes from " Influence on humanity." A certain type of worldwide pressure; an imprint; an outside influence that was " Trojan Horsed planted on the inside of humanity."
Its just too common. Kind of like some kind of great flood story in literally every human cultures history. I don't believe that flood was worldwide, but I believe there was a flood that influenced all of humanity at that time, and it is reflected in our historical archives.
Something is amiss here? There is more to influence than we know.

Why should I be happy about a holiday that I am in distain over its roots? I am simply stunned that many Christians have the weird ability and excuse, to even discover that their holidays are of pagan origins, and they still embrace them. They think they can erase the paganism, or excuse it, and still give their own meaning to a thing that came out of the mud of humanities traditional ways.
Its hard to be happy about a whole world that seems totally unaware of many things that they do. They absorb mud and think they can dress it up to be snow.

Well thank you, I have lived it in America. My parents lived in it, as did their parents, and so on back. For some of us, racism is like peeling an onion, it can draw tears from you as you work through its many levels.
And in America, racism can never be a " Hide and go seek game", because its really there; underneath; for those who refuse its game and like being for real.

The holiday is not happy to me, if there is posion in the food. Meaning there is nothing to celebrate, if there is death in the pot. In 2 Kings 4:40, " Oh thou man of God, there is death in the pot." This biblical story of Elisha always has amused me because he had traveled to Gilgal and asked to be fed some food. The servants went into the feild to gather what they thought was decent seasoning for a great pot of pottage, instead they nearly posioned Elisha, not knowing the herbs were no good. Somebody " Knew" though, and stopped Elisha from eating it. A celebration could have turned into death because people did not know what they were preparing. They thought it was good.
This senerio reminds me of how we celebrate all these traditions, we fill these " Pots", these societys, with death. Things which do not pertain to life. But they " Seem" like they do. Proverbs 14:12, " There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end of that way is death."
But we think we know what we are doing.

Society has its ways of putting pressure on you to celebrate its holidays, and many give in to it. Why?
Well its a type of peer pressure; group pressure and a powerful influence. We can be raised into it, tricked into it, tempted into it and baited into it. Why?
One could just say no! But often " No" needs education to come forth.

Now check this out, with holidays in mind, ( because you will begin to see its a mentality not limited to just holiday peer pressure), it is normally a custom or " Belief" which has evolved into a LONG established action which has resulted into deeply rooted entrenched patterns of behavior that a whole community or group of people has completely absorbed. One that has been handed down from generation to generation, and thus has solidly become a set of precedents that have a whole body of customs being born from it.
I would say at least 99% of how human society thinks in our present day was born just like this.

Look at the tradition of how us men, should pay for everything on a date. We should have the car, pay the gas, pay for the meal, pay for the drinks, pay all the tips, and on top of all that, pay her all the attention. And we have done this all our lives. And if she gets mad at you or does not like you, you're going to pay for that.
You ever wonder why? The next thing you know, she wants you to pay her bills.
Now I am not paying attention to the right or wrong of this, but the tradition of it. Well I have mostly done it, because I agree with it. And often when you agree with something, you're agreement may be blinding you to the right or the wrong of it.

Now myths and traditions can intermingle and grow together like weeds bonded. This is what has corrupted religion. It has corrupted government. It has corrupted how we live among each other. Like the tradition of " Same Race living among same race in cities." Well you start intermingling other races together, and what should happen? A peaceful union, or the flight of one race to get away from the other? Even REAL people can have trouble mixing together, much less traditions and myths.
I don't think humanity has ever been ready to mix together, not 100 % ready, you know, but we do what we can. We do our best.
When you bond things together, THEY WILL, affect each other in a new dynamic.

I wonder if Mickiel would be so chuffed about mothers day if he knew the mother of Mothers day was a feminist and herself childless and spent most of her life trying to stop the mothers day we know of today. That her intention was not at all to honour ALL mothers.

Actually Mothers day is not devoid of Paganism and ritual history;
The History of Mother's Day
But God himself , in the Ten commandments, said to honor our Mothers and Fathers, now that erases any human influence on the holiday in history. And it is God who erased it, not me.
If its okay with God, then its fine with me, no matter what you are suggesting.

It is the fact of mother's DAY a precise date in the diary of mammon, when special cards are produced and mother themed gifts mysteriously appear in shops.
I had no need to be reminded by the traders in the temple (Matthew 21:12.)

Matt. 21:12 is talking about Jesus being against selling birds in the temple, not gifts. They were selling " Doves." Read the verse for once, THEN try and use it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with honoring you're parents, Eph. 6:2, in fact its the first of the 10 that included a " Promise from God if you do this."
He said if you honor you're parents, he'd let you live longer. Which is stunning and reveals just how God feels about it!

Please Mr Mickiel why did you start this thread ?
You don't like the corruption of holidays in the name of your God, apparently returning the greeting 'Happy holiday' goes against your grain, whatever the person's belief who delivers it, as a matter of principle.
And yet a day created specifically to seperate you from your hard earned cash, ostensibly because you love your mother, is not only OK....... but your God agrees with it.
I would like to see the passage where God tells men that honouring their mother will extend their lives.
I worry it is based on your very own interpretation of the written word as is your understanding of the Matthew quote.

Why disturb in the first place, the things you think needs to be disregarded? This is transparent, I see through it. My thinking is attractive to you, you take the time to read it, but must make it known that you disregard it. Interesting contradiction; regard something but make sure you disregard it after you regard it. And make sure people know you are disregarding it.

I don't want to insult them, but I don't want to encourage them either. So its a tuff moment of manipulation. Do I stab their belief by responding, " Look, I don't celebrate Easter." Or Christmas, or birthdays, or St. Pactricks day, or valentines day; the list just goes on and on.
I realize at the moment they are just being nice about their choice of celebration; but I view it to be pagan originated and see nothing in them that I celebrate. I usually say, " And to you", but I grow tired of that. Yet I am not going to take the opportunity to tell them the real history of what they celebrate, its just not motivating to me to rip into peoples beliefs at these kinds of times when they are wishing what they think is good for you.
So I find this is getting unconmfortable to me and awkward; but I am a reasonable man; I think I need a new standard in my response. One that is respectful but clear. But this whole delima brings up several issues.
I agree with everything you say. So let´s take a lesson from the Jews. When someone says to them, "Happy Christmas!", they reply, "Thank you! Happy Christmas to you too!" Tell me, what´s the harm in that?
I greet Jews with "Shalom!". I greet Moslems with "Salam Allekum!" Plus I speak 5 languages, and I don´t see it as cumbersome or a disadvantage.

Well good question; I think what I am showing is that this dynamic is like Valerie's thread on Willow Smith, " What harm is there in that?" I believe there is a deteriorating spirit imposed on humanity that is systematically breaking it down bit by bit, in every conceived area, be that morality or" Holiday Spirits." Its an influence designed to carry humanity a certain way.
Alcohol is often labeled " A Spirit", because it holds a " Carrying away type of influence", which can easily sway.
There is such a Spirit behind this Willow Smith example, and these celebrating of most holidays; its a convincing spirit; a seductive spirit, an invading spirit.
But you see, its VERY hard to show that to a people, who don't believe Spirits exist in the first place.

The Holiday is not happy to me.

Bruv cynicism is difficult to reason with, because it takes too many liberties.

The holiday is not happy to me, because they , like Bruv, take too many liberties in our consciousness, and they make that violation a celebration. You violate my history, then celebrate doing it. You distort nearly every religion, then deceive them into celebrating the distortion. You invade my reason, and then consider me unreasonable if I don't acknowledge your invasion by saying " Happy Holiday in return." You apply peer pressure to a spot that is personal, and you twist until tradition supports you.

You are " The invading Spirit", which has totally engulfed humanity. Here a little and there a little, you have chiseled away at us for centuries; you are expert at doing it. You have invaded the house but did so in a way that you have been made a guest. Your main goal is to pry humanity away from its intended purpose, and you will corrupt anything to achieve that goal. But you are not stupid, you are brilliant and wise; you make you're darkness appear as light.
You invade our languages, our history, our science, our education, our intelligence, our play, our work, our relationships; no area is left alone. You invade our cultures, our beliefs, our families. You interfere with our morals and values;
You are the great Dragon. You make reality appear to be a myth, and myths to appear as reality. Your deception is not happy to me.
...but you are transparent and I see you...

Why is it that many cannot believe in " Spirits?" Conscious incorporeal beings, as opposed to matter.
The existence of the supernatural?
And that these beings can influence us; encourage or depress us; stir us , as to action.
I believe they are real, because the evidence suggest their influence. WE are the evidence, because everything humans do is not self motivated or self influenced.
