Hi minks, you're one of the ones (as well as others) in here I like to see when I pop in here every once in a while.

My problem is I can't say on line much more the 1/2 hour or so at a time, cause it

hurts my eyes.

So after checking my emails, and or messages, it doesn't leave much time for anything else. Especially when spread between FG and another forum I like to frequent.

Oh my gosh, omni skittles is "27" wow! I remember her at "16". Time sure does fly by!

Hey Cars *Minks waves happily* always good to see you when you are able to join.

Thanks for the compliment :)

It's nice to have people come revisit the old forum, something about it draws people back on and off. And something about it makes people stay.

I say Cars, we will take any visit you can offer up :)

Cheers

Oh how about Nomad, anyone hear anything from that crazy young man?

Yeah 11 years sure makes a big difference, you're now married, and I'm now retired, both of us are now in altogether different worlds!

I still pop in from time to time. I just don't post that much anymore.

I have befriended several former members on Facebook.

Hey AFTR nice to see you have not forgotten the old forum either.

FB is good for that.

I only keep loosely in touch with 1 FG member from the past and that's the lovely Raven. Who I might add is doing well.

To those who celebrate it: HAPPY EASTER!

Eat, Drink, and be Merry, and not necessarily in that order! :)

Busy here sight seeing, fishing, dining out too much for lunch & dinner, sometimes even breakfast, hitting the casinos, going to shows, and even getting a tan on the beach! :wah:

Like roulette, blackjack, and poker. But much of the time they don't like me! :wah:

Should I ever play roulette I'm minded to maximize my opportunity by putting all my... I expect there's a word for all the money I'm prepared to use as stakes - on one number, and then walk away regardless of the outcome. If the table isn't rigged then that seems the best available strategy. That way they can only have one nibble at what I put in front of them.

The first time I had stepped foot into a casino (Ceasar's Palace in Las Vegas) was 1977. I was 21. I had taken my mother there on her visit to me in California just after being discharged from the Navy. I had had lots of experience playing back alley cards having grown up in NY. A Bronx Tale sort of environment.

Just inside the entrance of the casino, there was a large roulette wheel on the wall that I decided to try out. I hit the correct number three consecutive spins. The guy doing the spinning says; "go gamble, you're hot right now!", which I did. I went straight to the blackjack tables because I was most familiar with (and quite good at) blackjack and poker. Within the span of one hour, I was playing at the $500.00 table and doing well.

Then, over the public address speaker system my name is called and I am summoned to the lobby. There I was met with a manager who informed me that my mother had fallen down some steps and was being transported to the local hospital. I cash in my winnings (which were substantial for someone like me at the time) and accompany my mother to the hospital. She had broken a bone in her foot and she was in excruciating pain.

We eventually make it back to the hotel, and after getting mom tucked in and as comfortable as possible, I go back out to play cards. I can't win a hand and lose everything including the $200.00 I started out with, which was all the money I had. All the dealers at each table as I descended in betting increments to kept advising me to quit playing, but I wouldn't listen.

I end up flying back to NY with my mother in order to carry her on and off the plane and never made it back to California. I had a friend eventually send me my belongings and get my beautiful 1964 Chevrolet Impala SS (with the engine I had only recently rebuilt myself to bore out the cylinders) out of LAX after a month plus of sitting there. The car was eventually stolen from my friend (or so he said) after I signed it over to him while I was working out a way to get back.

That experience taught me that gambling is not a predictable enough way of life.

Good luck at the tables ;)

I am to chicken to gamble with my money lol

And I hope everyone had a great Easter as well.

I had 2 Easter Dinners. 1 with friends, 1 with family. I have had enough ham for awhile now... and wine too :)
