Prince Andrew has been stripped of his "prince" title and will leave his Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge, Buckingham Palace has announced.
... "His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew," Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Thursday evening.
"Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor."

A rather firmer line than they set out with.
The nominal fact he's still eighth in line to the throne is immaterial. He can only take the throne with the consent of the Prime Minister of the day in the unthinkable circumstance of his reaching first place, and it is the work of a moment to disbar him then. It is in all practical terms irrelevant since the occasion will never eventuate. Interfering with the succession would, at this stage, be an astonishingly complex and pointless precedent-setting legal adjustment and would need to be agreed with all the Commonwealth realms, including Australia and Canada.
They've found him a cottage on the Sandringham estate (which is the size of Brighton and Hove) to keep him away from London.
There was uncouth audience applause on Radio 4's "Any Questions" when the news was announced during the live broadcast.

Members of a US congressional committee investigating the Jeffrey Epstein case have intensified their calls for Andrew Mountbatten Windsor to answer questions about his links to the late sex offender.
King Charles stripped his brother of his "prince" title on Thursday, following months of pressure over Andrew's ties to Epstein. Andrew has always denied wrongdoing.
At least four Democrat members of the House Oversight Committee have since renewed their calls for Andrew to testify - although the panel is controlled by Republicans, who have not indicated they would support the move.
Congressman Suhas Subramanyam told the BBC: "If he wants to clear his name, if he wants to do right by the victims, he will come forward".
Andrew could appear remotely, have a lawyer present and could speak to the panel privately, Subramanyam said.

And I'm wondering how many time the name of President Trump would come up if these politicians got access to him. It seems a somewhat opportunistic appeal with extremely long odds of success. They could at least sweeten the deal by offering to release Maxwell to him in exchange.

Well, at this point, what have they to offer him that might encourage cooperation. Or, with what might he be threatened that might also encourage said cooperation. I am sure that the Devine Mr. T could come up with something to encourage a loss of memory.
I'm not sure that anyone really thought this through, at all.
