Of corse in here in thestates we have double wamy . we have christmas and Thanksgiving. So the day after Halloween. It's time to get to get the decorationds out.The village houses. the green galand. Start working on decorating the outside of the apartment/house. Because that famous day after thanksgiving is the day to get the tree up and light up all the lights. And my five am sprint to walmart. To get christmas presents.

Lady cop do you live on the atlantic coast or the gulf coast? I am sure you have mentioned it before I got here. The weather report in good old Ill. is pure fog and I mean foggier than London. I was afraid to walk across my back yard. Now where is that picnic table? Rain for the next three days. Wait, maybe I am in London".

Thanks LC for the link about the hurricane. We get so little imfo here in Ill about your weather. We turn on CNN and see some jerk hanging onto a lightpole so he won't blow away saying the same thing he said during the last hurricane. He's more worried about his own a$$ than what he can tell us about whats happening in Fl. I see the eye has moved to the Gulf this morning but is going to return later in the week. Wow a double whammy. Watch your back LC for falling trees. I be thinking of you.

LC, are you out in the weather more during the hurricanes since you are law enforcement? Or do you get to bunker down with the rest of the people? I hope you can stay dry and safe!

we are activated, which means we may not go to our own homes. when we can "rest" we sleep at the jail. impossible, believe me. sometimes this will go on 3 or 4 days when it's a big one. when cruisers are out during height of a storm we take cover under bridges and answer NO calls. the public, who has been ordered to evacuate, is aware of this, and are on their own if they have refused to go to shelter.

Oh my God that sounds terrifying. When you are activated, what are you on the alert for when you're not taking calls? Car accidents, things like that?

usually any aspect of public safety, no traffic lights, unsafe driving conditions, going door to door to get people to leave their homes, or try to, making sure nitwits aren't trying to surf, and saving the drunks from themselves. also watching areas for looting. checking on the elderly to make sure they get to shelter. .......on and on. ......Nomad, sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread, i will do another one on 'canes sometime!

When the leaves fall, do you sweep them all into one big pile for the kids to dive into and destroy, or several small piles ... for the kids to dive into and destroy?
