i was serious in my post, except for the sex thing. does he have high blood pressure? no salt. i don't have high blood pressure, never did. the smoking acts to clot platelets and the stents could become occluded over time if he didn't take his meds for that and kept smoking. but modern stents have medication in them. you will see, he'll get lots of instructions and you need to be sure you read them too. i am sure it will be a cardiac diet, nothing to clog arteries. eggs- butter- grease, the usual. but be guided by the doctor, not by me!

His blood pressure has averaged 140/85 since his MI on Sunday. They say his BP is too high compared to his heart rate which averages 56/minute. They asked if he was some kind of major athelete (sp). His BP was 194/133 at the emergency room during admission. He has semi-high HDL cholesterol readings so we have to bring that down with diet and meds. They are saying he needs to be on BP meds - I say yes for a while and then maybe not if he gets it in normal range - it seems within normal to me so they might be concerned about the MI for the next 6 months???

now don't scare yourself...anyone who has had an MI needs to be concerned. but the stents ensure his heart is receiving more O2 and blood than before. he is in better shape. but of course some lifestyle changes are necessary. and keep up doctor appts. for EKG and normal examinations. he may come home with nitro too, in case of angina, occasional chest pain. i keep it in my purse and by my pc. they may also tell him baby aspirin as well. i really feel like i shouldn't be getting too deeply into this since BTS and i are two different people with different causes for what happened. your authority is his cardiologist.

He is going to take all those drugs - plus something that starts with a P for 6 months. What about diet LC? I took in some salsa sauce today because everything was so bland for him. The docs said OK but kept saying he has heartburn and why would he eat it? He loves spicey.

p-plavix? prevents platelets from clumping....what's wrong with salsa, it's veggies. heartburn has nothing to do with the heart. get some rest woman, he's going to be a big pain in the arse when you get him home!!

Plavix for six months........ I keep trying to sleep - I lay down and get his big burst of "OMG" it acts as a 4th or 5th or 13th wind. I'm very scared - I admit it. I don't do well with being scared. I get to dream state and I have nighmares and I wake immediately. I have to walk the hospital or the house......I pace when I am frightened

NV i had a massive MI in Dec., almost 9 months ago. i lay in the ER watching the monitor, i knew what everything meant, and i knew i was going to die. in fact i told the cardio man before he took me to OR that i knew i was in deep trouble. he agreed. i am a no-nonsense person in many ways, and i had to make some phone calls just in case i did die. called my kids, Bothwell and the sheriff. well i have since been hospitalized twice more. but i am still here! take heart.

They thought BTS was having another MI when he got to the hospital. He only had 1 coronary artery involved so it was not as massive as yours.

Hang in there woman of his life! My brother just had two stints put in,and he is doing fine.Now he has to do what the doctor said,loose some weight,and take his blood thinner.Make sure they get your guy up and walking around soon, and if not,make sure he has his compression stockings on,and wiggle his feet around to keep the circulation thing going.Dont want to hear about another DVT that could have been prevented.HANG IN THERE,HE'll GET BETTER SOON AND BE UP AND DRIVING YOU CRAZY SOON ENOUGH,IN THE MEAN TIME,LET HIM (CHASE OR AT LEAST FLIRT WITH A FEW PRETTY NURSES) it will help him get better!!

I'm sorry to hear about BTS, I wish him the speediest of recoveries, and hope u keep staying strong NV.

Well golly gee. I was setting here reading these thru tears. Thanks all for the support. I am still in the hospital and woke up early this AM. Guess I am kinda like a cockroach, you can't get rid of me around here:D (or being in the Garden maybe I am just a ol Bol-weevil)



NV is a REAL TROOPER. She put up with my onerieness and all like a nurse herself. Lucky to have her.





I again want to say thanks for all the support and am strolling the floor for the DR to relase me soon, for I could not have sex with a Clinton sticker on my head board Flop..................So if I have to break out, take hostages, hijack a taxi to prevent I will...

You're jumping all over someone for NO GOOD REASON. She was totally

just relaying something she had heard... like ANY of us might do. Why

did you get your panties in a bunch over that? I repeat: I don't

understand. I didn't think much of her post because I thought she was

just casually relaying something she had personal experience with. It

didn't seem to invite the kind of heat that you're giving. Again, I will

reiterate, why didn't you just say you had heard/read/whatever that

the guy is a 6 footer and let it go at that? Then we could ALL go on

with the rest of the thread.



I didn't wonder what happened to the thread because you told

Actually BTS in the Hospital was all about me being very scared and letting FG know his health was in danger. I got so much support from everyone and really appreciated that support.
