Well so far this evening, after last evening's arson in the garages, we've had stones thrown at our windows and while we were outside seeing if we could see the culprits, somebody fired an air rifle, the pellet hit the wall of our house ! Lousey shot if he was aiming for the windows! Mind you it was dark. Or was it aimed at us ? Nothing would surprise me at the moment. And here's me thinking things had calmed down a bit in the last four weeks ----- apparently not. Chris and Andy have gone out to play snooker. They weren't going to go, but I insisted - why should these scroats spoil our quality of life more than is necessary. I'm on the end of the phone, they've got their mobiles with them. Sorted.

For anybody new reading this, it may surprise you to know we live in a 'nice' residential area and we have friendly neighbours - these idiots do not live in this area, well most of them anyway.

Sorry I don't feel very cheerful at the moment, I just feel like giving out a bit of gbh. Drat I've been told not to go outside whatever else happens. I suppose I should just realise that I am not in my 20s any more ! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:-5:mad:

Thanks Jim and Kay xxx

Jim I much prefer your photo with the cap by the way, although that was a bit iffy, this one could certainly drive the newbies away  ;) :wah:

See I'm trying to be cheerful, but it's not working very well for me. I'll go and feed our 'little' dog and make me a mug of tea, then I'll go and have a game or two in the Arcade. Our 'little' dog Rex, would love to have a go at the young scroats, and I know he would make a very good job of it, but we don't want to be done for owning a dangerous German Shepherd. Nor do we want him to be taken from us and 'put down'. So on the odd occassion that we have taken him out when the gangs have been around, he has been on his lead, and Andy our son has hold of it - Rex doesn't bark or growl, like the police dogs do - he just wants to 'get up and at 'em' a bit like the Lloyds Bank horse ! So the scroats leg it. Obviously word has got round that we have a very large male German Shepherd, so things have quietened down a little until the incidents concerning our two Reliant Rialtos. However these two vehicles have been moved away to a farm where we store our caravan, so they are out of temptation's way, for the moment. Shortly they will be brought back because we need the cheaper transport and it's a long way to keep fetching and taking them back to the farm - so we will then just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope they will be left alone. But I'm not holding my breath.:( :-5

Hi all xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gill i hope last nigt was ok and no trouble:-3 but listen you, dont you dare go out to them on your own:-4

carol. wow so Donna's on her way eh? Be great to hear how she is getting on with her new life:D

I've been having a trip down memory lane today. I was sorting out cupboards to find space for stuff we had been storing in our sons room and found all kinds of memories. Old Photo's, letters from me an hubs to each other when we were courting and he was in the RAF Awwwww:wah: Cards from my kids when they had got old enough to write their own, My son always used to write his full name, then put "your son" underneath,,, :wah: Then i found a little note in an envelope adressed to mam. It was from my daughter, her and her brother must have been playing up quite a bit and i most probably had given them a very stern punishment. Anyway it said, mam we are so sorry to have been naughty, we promise to really try to be much better from now on, sorry mam. P.S. Thank you for still loving us. Awwwww why do they have to grow up:lips:

Hello everybody !!

Hi Carol, thanks. Good news about Donna, I look forward to chatting to her when she can get on here. Don't know how the time zones are though.

Jim, you are a nutter ! Thanks for changing your pic, yet again - I did see the one earlier and made a comment in this post, which I have now had to edit . But I really don't mind, as this one is much nicer matey - who is the very attractive young lady there with you ? :D ;)

Hi Kaz, I haven't found any letters that Andy wrote as a nipper, but what I have got is an audio (reel to reel) recording I took of 'Top of the Pops' one time, when Andy was 3 years old. At the time I had to record the show through the taperecorder mike, so it picked up any noise inside the room as well. When they showed Harry Nilson singing 'Without You', there was this little voice piped up (and with such feeling) right in the middle of the chorus - " I love my mummy lovin" and " I can't live without my mummy lovin' " aaaaw bless. He just loved that song ! :-4

This was my sons favourite when he was just a baby, he used to sit in one of those bouncy chairs and nearly bounce himself out of it when this song came on:wah:

Splat

by Brian Quinn

A wise-man was seated in silent prayer,

When a stranger came by and rested there.

The stranger was haggard and his clothes were all torn,

And he spoke to the wise-man in a voice all forlorn.

"Which road do I take to get serene above all,

For wherever I go I hit splat into a wall?"

The wise-man smiled, easing the stranger's load,

And he pointed his finger down a narrow, twisting road.,

So the stranger set off and his gait was quite light,

But he returned pretty soon and he looked a worse sight.

"That road I went down I didn't like it at all,

For after a while I went splat into a wall.

"I really want a path that will give me some peace,

Where my fears will go free and my tensions will cease.

The stranger pleaded some more, his voice was disjointed,

But down the same road the wise-man again pointed.

The stranger set off, though he looked full of doubt,

And after a while he returned with a shout.

"How come you sent me down that same twisting road?

Can't you see I am tired and I don't want this load?"

The wise-man spoke in a voice that was keen,

"I thought you were searching for a life that's serene?"

The stranger exclaimed, "Yes, I really want that!"

"Then," the wise-man said softly, "You must go through the splat."

Just to cheer you up a bit Kay, we've got heavy rain in England and been warned that there will be high winds increasing during the day :-5 You got it a bit warmer where you are, which of course upsets our Carol as you know, so try not to rub it in, cos you know what she's like ;)

Blimey Carol, will I need the London Philharmonic Orchestra ? .................don't think I can afford them :(

This is the only song I can think of that has no repeats of melody lines throughout its length. I have always thought that this was one of Roy Orbison's best songs, can you remember it ?

A very clever, and well written song - a favourite of mine.
