Just doing the last of my clothes washing before we go away at the end of the week. Going to take enough clothes to last 4 weeks ! But having thought about that, I think our car would be chock-a-block with clothing (for 3 people!), and no room for anything else ! So I'll have to compromise and hope I can find a laundrette somewhere local. I don't really care TBH, I just want to get away and to hell with wearing the same stuff for a couple of days or so. If I don't rush around, I won't get sweaty and stink the place out ! :yh_rotfl So I will glide quietly and smoothly wherever I go - that should do it ! Some stuff I will be able to leave at the static, so we won't be bringing so much back as we will be taking. A definite 'take' will be our PC (to play games on), hopefully a small portable colour TV and DVD player, my small radio/alarm, some kites, golf clubs. Books we can get from the library.
All in all, I really can't wait to get away and be able to chill out! It is going to be wonderful ! Hubby's sis will be joining us but staying on another site, for 3 weeks. They are great fun. All we need really is some decent (not too hot) weather !

Hi Odie, thanks for the welcome back! I missed you as well ! Glad you liked the pics - my favourite is the view pic. This was in Norfolk. We all reckoned that if we won the lottery, that house with the view of the sea as well as having a private lake, would suit us down to the ground ! There are a couple of smaller properties to the right of it, which I suppose we could buy for our relatives ! :yh_rotfl Aren't dreams wonderful ? :-6

Well, we had a lovely break, we came back, we've been back since Monday and on Wednesday evening my son's car (Reliant Rialto 3 wheeler) was rolled over by a bunch of yobs ! No wonder we want to bloody well leave here ! :-5:-5:-5
Police have given us a crime number, so we only have to wait for our tame mechanic to come and look the car over tomorrow, and depending on his findings we will contact my son's insurance company. Somebody called the fire brigade because of a possible leak of fuel - as the car was on it's side. They arrived, checked the leak, realised that it was not still leaking and what bit had leaked, had evaporated, so they lifted the car back onto it's wheels for us and went on their way.
I do sometimes wonder if it is worth having a short time of enjoyment, when you get a smack in the mouth afterwards, like that !!:-1
Although this isn't the actual Reliant Rialto saloon, it is very similar - my son's is bright yellow, and a bit older ! It is also classified as a classic car !

Hi Kathy ! Thanks for the welcome back, and I'm glad you liked my pics - just a few of the many that I took ! Yes, had a lovely time and really enjoyed the peace and quiet of where we were. :-6:-6 I suppose that things have to balance out - as soon as we get back, the yobs roll my son's car over !
They really ought to be careful, as they obviously don't know my son very well, if he ever catches them at it, I'm afraid my son would get in trouble with the law! Doesn't seem fair does it? I just am thankful that the car has a glass-fibre body and bounces! Still waiting on our tame mechanic to check engine mountings and suspension etc, though.

Oh Gill,
That is so awful. How do these shites get away with this.....I don't understand.... May I ask if Fire's car is parked on the street with easy access to it. Is this nasty group of yob's targeting you for some reason?
I sincerely hope you can survive until you move:(

Kathy, it's because the car is a little three wheeler, and 'great fun' to roll over - much easier than a four-wheeled car. :-5:-5
Andy's car was left right against one wall and front end right up against another wall, right in the corner where two walls meet. We thought there was no possibility of anybody being able to rock it, being right up tight to the walls. However there must have been a few of them because they lifted it away from the wall at the car's side, so they could rock it sufficiently to get it to roll over! There must be super finger prints under the back end where they lifted it away, but the cops just aren't interested ! They gave us a crime number !
Strange that nothing was done in all the time we were away, then the minute we're back - bingo ! At least, at the moment we have caused the cops to patrol more often round our way - but I don't suppose that will last very long, as they are so short handed and have a very wide area to deal with. I've just seen a patrol car crawling slowly by, on our cctv monitor! I suppose they are at least making some sort of effort.
Just makes me so wild, God help them if we catch them red-handed, with the way we all feel about it, the cops would need body bags for the little shytes! I'm not joking either - and thats just from what I'll do!!!!!! My son had to physically hold me back from chasing the bastards with a night stick, the last time they rolled his car !
You are quite right, Kathy, I just cannot wait to move away ! :-5:-5:driving:

If you check back in this thread, Kathy, I have put a pic of a Reliant Rialto like Andy's. They are classified as a 'tricycle' and therefore, although looking like a small car, and having passenger room, they can legally be driven by somebody with only a motorcycle driving licence. My son, as yet, has not got a full car driving licence (though I think that will be addressed in the near future!), but he does have a full motor cycle licence which enables him to drive a three-wheeler car like the Reliant. He can carry up to 3 passengers (just), and some baggage, so it's a little more practical than a motorbike. Also, probably more importantly, it keeps the occupants out of the weather !
:-6
Oh, and the road tax is the same as for a motorcycle, so a hellova lot cheaper to run. Fuel is as economic as for a motorcycle, and the insurance is very reasonable.
Another thing, certainly in Andy's case, the Reliant is no slouch - he has had his up to 100 mph ! He can leave other cars standing when taking off from traffic lights and is continually surprising other drivers by his nippiness!

Isn't life simply WONDERFUL !!!!!!
We get back from hols. on Monday, son's car rolled on Wednesday evening.............
Tonight (Monday), some bastards have fired a neighbour's 4 x 4 - it was parked outside his house on a slight downhill on the road........the fire burnt through his brakes, so whilst it was burning furiously, it started to roll gently down the slope (towards our property
), fortunately the owner had seen this and shoved a baulk of wood infront of the front wheel, which stopped it. The fire brigade put out the fire and damped down. Needless to say the man is gutted - it was his pride and joy. Apparently the police seem to know who the arsonists are, so let's hope these scum get arrested and charged. :-5:-5

Makes you wonder what will happen next !
Do you think they will be arrested Gill?
Whole world is going to hell,we need tougher laws here & sounds like you need them there as well.:-6

It is a possibility that the arsonists may get arrested, as it seems both the victim and the police know who is responsible. It is something to do with witness intimidation apparently - the teenage son of the victim is a witness to a stabbing, along with his friend. The friend has changed his mind about being a witness (I suspect his family may have been got at too!). The victim's son says it will not change his mind and he is still being a witness - bless his courage! I do hope the police are more vigilant here, as the arsonists may up the ante ! What a frightening situation for them !
At the moment, we are in the midst of having our central heating renewed, and it is absolute CHOSS !!!!!! The lads will be working till at least the end of the week, and we are still living in the house
But we will cope, it will be worth putting up with stuff to get a proper new central heating on ----- Yippee !!!!!!!! We will have HOT running water, and warm radiators at last (not had this since January !). The other thing is that it will be free under the 'Warm Front' government grant scheme for elderley people........................Blinkin eck - I'm 'elderly' ffs !!!!!! Not inside myself I aint !!!!!!!!!! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Odie, I suppose the lad will still testify as he probably feels that somebody has to make a stand and get these scum off the streets. It's a hard call, and I think the lad is very brave to carry on - maybe the police will step up their patrols, whilst also questioning the suspected arsonists. It may be that the lad's family will be moved to 'a place of safety' till after the trial - thinking about that, I have not noticed any activity from the lad's house since that incident the other night! It could be that they have moved temporarily to somewhere else, themselves. We are trying to keep an eye on their house through our CCTV monitor in the mean time, although the view of their house is at maximum capability for our CCTV camera. Should we see anything suspicious, however, we'll be straight on the phone to the police! Even though it may turn out be a false alarm.
The lads installing our new central heating are really going great guns, as the house is very awkward to do stuff like that - lots of hard drilling through breeze block and concrete etc., lots of corners and awkward routes, but they seem to be coping very well ! Hopefully we should be up and running on Friday sometime! :-6 :guitarist

Weeeeeehooooo !!!!!! We now have central heating and HOT water running from our hot water taps !!!!!!!!!!!! The electrician is coming next Wednesday to fix permanently the thermostat and the timer switch for the boiler! Now we shall see our gas bills go up :wah:
After a very traumatic week, when we were sooo knackered each evening - I've only posted a couple of items in the last four days and I haven't even checked my emails !! I shall have to do that tomorrow, in between clothes washing, packing stuff into our box trailer to take to the tip, and possibly buying a garden incinerator (the other one has died through over use !), so we can get loads of 'sensitive' paperwork burnt.
Well on Saturday and today, we decided to have the weekend off ! So we had early starts each day and drove to the Peak District of Derbyshire on Saturday - the weather was very good, and the sun appeared a few times as a bonus ! It was lovely to see the Autumnal tints starting to appear on the trees, and talking of trees, our dog Rex (German Shepherd nearly 14 years old) thought he'd died and gone to Heaven with all the trees he was walking by. Needless to say it was a stop/start kind of walk :yh_rotfl Well they have to mark their boundaries don't they? :wah:
Below are a few pics I took in Derbyshire on Saturday. The ones I took when we travelled to Rutland Water and the Vale of Belvoir today, I shall try to put on tomorrow.

Oops, I nearly forgot - apparently the police have arrested two people for the arson on our neighbour's 4 x 4 car last Wednesday. The family (victims) are still living in their house, so not sure what is going to happen in the near future about them staying elsewhere for a while. We'll keep our fingers crossed that all will be OK. I expect that the suspects will be out on bail, but I would doubt that they would try anything more because even a thicko would realise that they would be the first ones to be visited by the police if anything further should be done to that family ! But you just never know, do you? :-5

Well another day gone! I've still got loads of emails to check through
, been soooo busy again - also had a couple of fellas come round to trim down our outrageous eucalyptus tree in our back garden. When we bought it 19 years ago, we were told that it would only grow to a maximum of 13/15 feet, well they lied didn't they ! It's more like 20 feet !!! We have to have it trimmed down every 2 or 3 years now because in high winds it's branches nearly knock our windows, and somebody advised us recently that it could be a bit dangerous as it was fairly top heavy. It is growing at the edge of our garden near to a public footpath, so we don't want any accidents !
Whenever we have a barbeque, we always scatter some eucalyptus leaves on the embers after we've finished cooking, gives off a lovely aroma !

Hi Odie and Pam !
Ere you lot, I live in England, so no koalas :wah: There are some squirrels (grey) and a few birds............................. Oh and a cat or two, although recently the pesky cats have found difficulty getting into our garden. This could be something to do with the 6 inch nails sticking, points up, from the top of our fence! Either that or maybe they don't want to tangle with our rather large German Shepherd !!! :wah:
The nails serve two purposes`- 1/ to deter feral yobs trying to climb in, and 2/ to deter all the felines, so giving our little tweety dicks a chance of safe feeding from the bird table !

Well it's been some days since I last posted on this thread ! I've been juggling between my mod. responsibilities, one or two posts in different threads and loads of housework, washing, and the dreaded sorting and clearing out surplus stacks of stuff. My hubby and son have done 2 enormous 'burns' away from habitation, of sensitive personal papers, business papers etc. We're all knackered, so we are taking a week off, just to chill and take a breath or two away at our new home :-6
Then we'll be back for more hard graft. Well at least we have central heating, and hot water running from our taps now !
We'll be off either Saturday or Sunday early ! Just hope the weather is good to us for the week, although tbh I really don't mind if it aint !
