Hi Kathy, Odie and Helen, 'they' reckon we're in for a couple of weeks of wintry weather ! Snow? I won't hold my breath :wah:
Kathy, you just take it steady and be careful how you go Mrs. Yes sciatica can be very painful, so don't do too much too soon ! Why don't you go on your bicycle ? :-3
:-6
Odie, the snow just makes you appreciate the summer more, when it returns. It's a nice feeling sitting in the warm, when it's very cold outside! :-6
It's a pity you still can't find your new glasses, Helen, could be that somebody has already picked them up and maybe taken them to the cop shop? Good job you have a spare pair to use! It has been a showery day here today, with a bit of sunshine in between and I'm glad that it's a little drier in Cornwall at the moment. Wally won't get quite so muddy :wah: By the way, Andy may be 40 but he doesn't look it. If you knock 10 years off that, may be nearer the age he looks !

Hi kathy, Odie, Helen ! Yes it's a nice sunny day here as well ! Not sure what I will be doing, probably putting the small Christmas tree up, with lights etc. We've already put up the lines to hang our Christmas cards on. We did have a bigger artificial tree, but can't find it, so we think we took it to our caravan because we were intending to spend Christmas there ! However, stuff has conspired against this plan ! :-5 So we invested in a smaller tree

We're trying to get into the Christmas spirit, but so far it isn't working
I feel so angry that we are not able to spend Christmas at our lovely static, because of what third parties have done ! However, we will make up for it, I expect, after the holiday.
I shall be glad when 2009 is over and done with, and it will be a year I will try very hard to forget!
It would be nice if we got a white Christmas this year, I can't remember when we had one of those, as it was so long ago !
Apparently we are in for a couple of weeks of very cold weather, but it is actually the time of year for it innit ? So glad we have our central heating up and running, and gorgeous hot water straight from the tap
Take care all of you ! :-6

mornin all,
not a cloud in the sky today and pretty chilly but nice !!!
eventful morning so far !! and its only 9-30am.
for a start, i found my glasses............... they had come off their string, slid down inside my coat and fallen into the inside pocket

:-3:yh_rotfl
i just woke up thinking, i wonder if thats what happened and there they were !!
then there was wallace, a german shepard and a tennis ball !!!
the german shepard was quite willing to share his ball but wallace wanted to take it home.................... so he gave the german shepard a bit of grief
the shepard just bared the most enormous set of teeth and one bark that seemed to come from his boots and poor wally ran for his life................. it must have taken me 10mins to stop laughing :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Hi Helen, So glad you found your glasses Mrs
The weather is sunny here, but cold, and there are a few clouds approaching ! Could, I suppose, chuck us a bit of sleet in a while, who knows ?
We are going to our static on Sunday till the weekend - sudden decision! Got to put up the metal garden shed we bought last time we were there, and no doubt bring back my 'buggy'. Hope it isn't too cold next week, as we've been warned that the underground water pipes on the site can freeze up if it goes on too long!
Can't really afford to go there, but I feel we need the trip at the moment. A little bit of de-stressing won't come amiss :-6 :driving:
Take care everybody !

Hi everybody ! I'm back ! It was soooooo relaxing staying in the caravan for nearly a week ! Very cold though (outside) Caravan was sooo cosy and warm (central heating plus a halogen electric fire) ! North Norfolk got it bad for snow, although where we were we didn't do too badly - a lot of places got 8 inches of snow in 24 hours and it damaged power lines, so several thousand homes were without electricity. Schools (700) in East Anglia had to close a day earlier for their Christmas break, roads were closed, etc etc. We drove back today (Saturday) and the main coast road was still affected by icy surfaces and piles of snow at the edges and in the middle. :driving: There must have been gritting done, but obviously it needed another run! We passed one petrol station, that also was a car sales place, and there was a line of igloos where the cars for sale were !!! :yh_rotfl But the conditions were really iffy, even treacherous in a lot of places, and that particular road is very heavily used. It didn't actually snow, thank goodness, whilst we were travelling, but we had to drive well over 100 miles before we actually reached the area where the snow had only left a dusting ! When we got back home it was still very cold, but there had hardly been any snow at all ! It's making up for that now though, because since we arrived and off-loaded the car, it started to snow quite heavily - I think we made it just in time :sneaky:
By the way, Odie, thanks for your concern, but if you read my post No. 771, I did say I was going away till the following weekend - which is today !
Not sure if we will be going back to the caravan for Christmas yet, but I would really like to if we can ! I'll probably know Monday or Tuesday.
Keep yourselves warm ! :-6

Thanks for the text and the birthday wishes, Helen. It was a slightly hairy ride back for the first 100 + miles, but Andy was doing the driving, so I was quite content and comfortable, and he didn't take any risks - he said his whole world was with him in that car, bless him. Thanks Jazzy, and yes we're all safe and back home ! When the Volvo T5 turbo first came out, the British police bought loads of them for their motorway police etc. probably because they showed very successfully in the British Touring Car Championships, they are built like tanks, are very good to control and are capable of speeds in excess of 150 mph ! We have done over 100 mph in it, a couple of times, but really the roads are too busy and I don't think it is very safe to travel at such high speeds - you can't rely on other drivers not doing stupid things! Anyway it is far more economical at around 50-60 mph (does seem so slow though :yh_rotfl ).
My son calls our car 'Jaws', I can't think why ! :yh_rotfl :driving: :yh_rotfl
I've added a few pics, taken on our drive back from Norfolk on Saturday (yesterday). The trees looked very magical, but the depth of the snow on the verges doesn't show very well unfortunately. In some places it was a foot deep, and that was after 24 hours snowing. The roads, although gritted, had frozen again and there was a considerable amount of 'black ice'. The road where these pics were taken was the main coast road from Kings Lynn to Norwich the A148, a very busy road with lots of heavy goods vehicles. We were very relieved that it wasn't actually snowing ! We didn't run out of the snowed-up areas for about 100 miles !

Hi Helen, Jazzy, Odie and everybody, just popped in to say that I won't be on FG very often for the forseable future, due to personal stuff. So have a good Christmas, all of you, and don't forget to do some smiling sometimes. I am just looking forward to next Christmas. as I had some awful news on Monday, despite all the lovely thoughts from some lovely people, yes sometimes it doesn't work ! :-6
