We have a CCTV camera onto our house frontage (to keep an eye on the car and anybody coming down our path !). We have parked our car away from our frontage and off the road, and next door have parked theirs the other side of the road on the grass. We were looking at the cctv monitor just now and saw a Mini Bus do a 360 spin in the road ! He would have smashed into our car, and next door's had we parked in front of our houses ! As it was, he didn't hit anything, and managed to creep away slowly and park up elsewhere. My hubby had cleared our pathway and the pavement outside, and salted, on Monday. Right now it's as if he never bothered !

Morning Gill!
That must have been exciting to watch the cameras catch vehicles slipping on ice.
Luckily you moved your car!

We installed the camera and monitor (there is sound as well) about 10 years ago, when we had so much trouble with gangs of feral youths wandering around the locality looking for mischief. My hubby and son each had a 3-wheeled car (Reliant Rialto), and because they were small, with glass fibre body, they were quite easy to roll over - such fun for the local idiots! One time there were six of them rocked my son's Reliant till it went over! We rushed out, and they legged it, of course, but had they lingered, they would have been very surprised to see my son lift his car back onto its' wheels, by himself! It took 6 to roll it over, and my son on his own to right it again! My son had to hold me back, cos I was all for chasing after the buggers and cleaving their flamin heads in. My language was choice and the volume was 900 decibels. I was a tad angry ! We were so fed up with it happening on such a regular basis, over the years. We also got Rex, a German Shepherd, a 'rescue' dog from our local RSPCA. These yobs saw him one night, when they were being generally obnoxious and loud, and we took Rex out there, on his lead, they took one look and legged it ! :wah:
Hubby's Reliant is now at our static caravan, out of harms way, and we have sold my son's Reliant, so there isn't that temptation any more, and we only have to watch out for our Volvo now. We haven't had problems for some months, and maybe it's because the yobs don't have Reliants to roll over any more, coupled with the fact that they all know we have a rather large alpha male German Shepherd, and we're not afraid to confront these idiots. I expect some other poor people are being harassed by these gangs now, somewhere else !
Yes we went through hell basically, over a period of time. Car windows smashed, the small cars regularly rolled over, next door's shrub wrenched up and the root ball thrown through our window, gangs hanging around shouting abuse at us, 3 burglaries, a previous Reliant written off through severe damage done with somebody trying to get a rear wheel off, when they obviously hadn't got the right tools for the job. We replaced my son's Reliant with another. And so it went on, and on. Drove us barmy, and the police, though called each time, took so long in arriving that the buggers had disappeared, of course. Once, one of the police officers asked us if we knew who the youths were! I said we didn't, and that if we had known who they were, the police would have had to bring 'body bags to collect their remains in !
'I'll pretend I didn't hear that !' said the officer. So I told him that if the police reacted quicker, they would have been able to catch these idiots red-handed on most of the occasions! :-5
Any way that is why we had CCTV installed, just to give us prior warning of any possible trouble outside, and it has been very useful ! And still is although the 'gang' trouble seems to have quietened right down.

Occasionally there is a patrol car, mostly in daylight though! But there are pockets of trouble all over the place, and I suppose the police can't be everywhere. They are so under-manned, it's ridiculous.
Hey, guess what !!!! I think I'll keep my big mouth shut about things going quiet!
Last night, we had parked our car right outside our house, since the snow and ice has now gone for the time being, anyway. It is right under the eye of our cctv camera. However, regardless of this, some scroat or scroats attacked our lovely car, a rock (rockery stone) was thrown at the car, missed the drivers side window, hit the guttering rail above the drivers door crushing it down onto the roof, bounced right over the car, hit our garden fence, and landed beside the nearside of the car on the pavement. Another stone was thrown, probably to smash the right rear side window, missed and hit the coachwork by the petrol filler cap and landed on the road. A large brick was then thrown at the rear right side window (that the stone had missed!) and this time was accurate. The side window exploded and threw glass all over the place inside the car and on the road. The force of the throw caused the brick to smash in half as it hit the glass. We didn't know anything about this till this morning when my nephew called round at about 10 am ! It must have happened whilst we were watching soccer on the TV just after midnight. Seething would not adequately describe our feelings. The police were informed, I rang the insurance company, as we are fully comp. insurance and the glass is covered without affecting out no-claims bonus. Still got to pay £75 excess though, which of course we can't afford, but have to. Auto Glass are coming out this afternoon to install a perspex window, just to keep the vehicle reasonably secure and protect from weather, then they will come out tomorrow morning to replace the window proper - it is special tinted glass and they reckon that without insurance cover we would have had to pay about £250 minimum!
We will just have to do what we can about the damaged roof guttering and the coachwork near the filler cap. Otherwise it would be major repairs.
We have just found out that two yobs were kicked out of the pub down the road, just before midnight, for fighting in the pub. Apparently they smashed a phone box up, they kicked in fence panels and smashed other things. They were caught on CCTV from the pub, so maybe the little scroats were the ones who did damage to our car. There was a broken pint glass amongst the window glass, on the road, and the police asked us to collect it up carefully and keep it for them. Maybe, at last, they will be able to do something about this trouble, and hopefully they will get an admission out of these yobs. I expect they will check the glass pieces for fingerprints.
Why the bastards picked our car rather than anybody else's I don't know, there are some very expensive cars along our road, including a Mitsubishi 4 x 4 people carrier (or Chelsea tractor, as some call them !). It's just a good job my son is in Wales at the moment. I think he would have lost it over this ! He loves that car.

We do have a lock-up garage, which has two motorcycles, three pedal cycles and numerous other pieces of equipment, tools etc. The garage is not big enough for our car to go in, either in width or length ! So we have to leave it out. The brain dead used to roll our three wheeled Reliants over on a regular basis! We've sold my son's and my hubby's is at our static caravan. Our box trailer is where our touring caravan is stored, on a farm. We do try to keep stuff away from the idiots, but our main car has to take pot luck. I am so angry about it. I really can't say what is on my mind, in truth. The Auto glass chap is sorting out putting perspex in the window at this moment, bless him. He has swept up all the glass from the road, but I'm not sure if he has cleaned out the car as well. Although it was a rear side window, there is broken glass literally all over the car, as the window must have exploded when the brick hit it. I expect we'll be finding bits for weeks yet.
Worries me because we often take our German Shepherd in the car and I would hate him to get a shard of glass in his foot pads!

Never rains but it pours Gill as the saying goes. That must have made a lot of noise when they did what they did. I'm surprised no one heard this happening and could have caught the creeps before they ran off. I agree, you will have to be very careful about any shards of glass that might be left in the car. I had a window smashed once and even after I vacuumed the car several times, I was still finding slivers of it. The best thing to do is if you take your dog in the car is to put a thick blanket over the seat and some towels on the floor for his paws. This just so infurates me that you have to live lile this Gill. We should all be able to feel safe and secure in our homes. Gosh, does your son know what's happened yet? :-3

Well we won't tell my son, till he actually comes home. He'd only hot foot it back here looking for blood ! He would also worry about his parents' safety (unnecessarily). It may be that the toe-rags that did our car are also responsible for all the damage done in and around the pub down the road (it's about a 1/4 mile away from us), they're on the pub's cctv, so maybe there could be an I.D. I hope so.
If they are caught, they will only be done for criminal damage, probably a community order for about 100 hours at most, possibly paying costs and maybe some compensation. I suppose it depends on if they are already known to the police, and have 'previous'. But I don't hold out any hopes. Our crime number is in the 4,000 s, and that is just from the beginning of January ffs ! Also it is in just our police area, not the whole of the county ! Just shows how much crime is going on.
Good job we're insured fully comp. otherwise we would have had to find nearly £300 instead of £75 (the excess for window glass replacement). I suppose, if people respected other's property, we wouldn't have to find the £75 ! It is such a pity that there is no longer the punishment of the 'birch' for these idiots, because I'm sure they would take more notice of physical punishment and want to avoid it in the future.

Gill,
That was an awful thing for someone to say to you. You're going through a very difficult time and need to vent.
Keep on venting Gill, and I sincerely hope that your friends here will lend a good listening ear:-4

 :-5

I heard, yesterday (Monday) from the police, that there was a trail of criminal damage right along an adjacent road to ours - several cars had their windows smashed, lots of fence panels kicked in and gates kicked in, so those bastards really went to town. Apparently the pub down the road had not reported their incident to the police, nor said anything about the telephone kiosk glass being smashed or their own fence panels (brand new) kicked in. Well I suppose that figures, as the police are involved when a pub licence comes up for renewal each year ! But you would have thought that the landlord would have given access to the video tape from the cctv at the pub, to the police. Maybe the police never bothered to ask ? That figures. At least forensics called round and checked a smashed 1/2 pint glass for fingerprints, that was found amongst the broken window glass on the road. Unfortunately, nothing showed up, even though he checked every piece very thoroughly - yes he really did, because my hubby watched what he was doing
The chap was keen to find something, so they could tie it in with the pub incidents if possible. You win some and you loose some !

Hi Gill,
I know that the original Foc thread is still here. How could the 2nd Foc thread thread be deleted?
I thought that threads could not be deleted unless TS deemed so...did that happen?

What a wonderful time we are having! We had our car rear o/side passenger window smashed, and various bits of damage done to the coachwork of our car whilst they tried to hit the car window ! That was last week-end (Sat night/Sun Morn). One week on and Lo and Behold, a repeat performance WHOOPEEEEEEEE !
Same window, exactly one week later. This time it was done with one shot with a huge lump of 'hard core' from a nearby site where a building has been demolished. This time, the rock hit the coachwork surround at the bottom edge of the window at the same time as it hit the glass. That's more damn coachwork dented and gouged.
That will be another £75 out of our pensions !
We weren't sure about being 'targetted' last week, but is this second effort just a coincidence, are we being targetted? Police have been told, and we have another crime number. No point in SOCo calling, as I doubt very much whether there will be finger prints on the rough chunk of 'hard core'. Auto Glass have been called, and hubby has walked to the 'hole in the wall' to draw some cash to pay the excess for the window.
Still won't tell our son, who's away in Wales at the moment, as he would only come tearing back here, spitting words of violence. There is no need for that, as his mother is spitting enough of such words for our whole family (including the extended family!)
Hence I am not in a good mood at all. In fact, I am very upset, to think there may be a possibility that somebody out there is deliberately damaging our lovely car. Then what next? My hubby says he will park the car along another road, when it is repaired, which means a walk each time we need to use the car. Then if it has more damage done to it, we will be convinced that we are being targetted, particularly if no other vehicle has been damaged.
I won't show any pictures, this time, because they will just be a repeat of 7 days ago!
Bloody hell ! It's just started to rain, and Autoglass haven't been yet, and the car will be getting wet inside. My hubby is searching for some polythene sheet of some sort to stick over the broken window.

Hi Jazzy and hi Odie, Yes we know who would be responsible, if we were being targetted. We have the police visiting us in the next day or so, when we will give them as much info as possible. Just can't afford £75 every week for nothing, not out of our pensions.
God help them if we catch them in the act, that's all I can say.
We've cleared the car of everything that is personal, just in case they return. The window glass company have been so busy today that they have been unable to make the broken window secure. So we've tried to park the car against a wall so the back door cannot open. There is only polythene on the window to keep rain out. I haven't the faintest idea how we would stand insurance wise, if it got fired tonight.
Probably get nothing, because we left the car insecure! Autoglass offered to garage it at their secure place, but that is the other side of the city to where we live, so how would we get back home? It's Sunday and there is a much reduced bus service. I'm not happy at all. I just cannot think what terrible thing we have done, to be visited with such a string of bad things against us, over the last 2 1/2 years ! It is obvious to me that we have not been nasty enough in our lives - doesn't pay to be kind to people, and nice, and generous, and helpful.
Yes I am very bitter. If that family had not been so evil towards us, we would have been out of here and living in our static caravan now, with our house on the market. They have got a lot to answer for, and they will sooner or later. I hope we are still on this mortal coil to see that happen.
Hi Gill!
I'm thankfull you know who it is.
They will be caught and dealt with and they will then owe you your money back.
I can only imagine the money, I know I would not be able to afford it either.:-5
People can be nasty Gill and take revenge.
You should read my thread sometime on nasty neighbors, your not the only one and you won't be the last with their wrath.
I only wish there was a neghbour you could park your car at, in someones garage.

Our car is quite long and wide. We do have a lock-up garage, but it is not big enough for our car, so therefore the other garages will also be not big enough for our car. There are no vacant driveways or other types of garage that are reasonably close to us. We had considered this possibility, but there is nothing suitable, that may be available to us.

Kathy, we won't be moving for quite a while now, not since a certain family that we had treated as our extended family, became so evil towards us. They used us to get themselves out of trouble, I can't say any more, but because of their actions against my little family, they have caused us such awful trouble. It made me vow never to get so deeply involved with anybody like we had with them, ever again. They have more or less tried to destroy my family. If all this had not happened (by that family) we would have been happily living elswhere away from all this rubbish, our house would be on the market, and life would have been good again.

oh that really is tough luck Gill, and I know you can't move right now.
I pray they won't be back, good thing the police are on the look out.
