Name ONE thing you remember from way back when...............

I remember when street cars ran in Cleveland, Ohio. They had poles that went up to the wires above which made them run.

I remember listening to the original radio program "War Of The Worlds" produced and narrated by Orson Wells. We lived very close to where the supposed Martians had landed in New Jersey. Our whole family was glued to the radio and convinced that we were under attack from outer space. That show made major changes in what could be broadcast on radio. BTW that show can be downloaded off the net and it's still exciting to hear it.

I remember as a kid during WW2, saving aluminum foil, collecting metal pots & pans, bacon grease for the war effort. And folding bandages at the local Red Cross with other school kids. And waiting expectantly for packages from my brother-in-law in Europe, who would mail home German bayonets, flags, and other war relics.

I remember being at a friend's birthday party, and I guess we were about five or six years-old. My friend's grandmother was there for her party. While her grandmother was eating cake -- and she was old and shaky, by the way -- I happened to notice numbers stamped into the skin of her wrist. All I could do was stare. My mouth had to have hit the floor, because my friend's mom tapped me on the shoulder and whispered into my ear, "Stop staring."

Later, my friend told me that it was okay to ask her grandmother about the numbers on her wrist and that her grandmother didn't mind talking about it, so we asked her grandmother about it. Her grandmother was in a concentration camp during WWII. That is how I learned about the Holocaust and that they burned/stamped numbers into people's skin.

i remember when my cousins out in Cali would come back over the summer. they would shriek in excitement when they saw the "Butt-lite" bugs.

I always took 'em for granted. so every year or two, even now (i'm 26 and they're 17 &19) when they come back for reunions, we go out and chase

"Butt-lite" bugs.
