What is lacking is good old common sense and a sense of SELF.
My girls would NEVER have put up with such nonsence. My youngest daughter when in 1st or 2nd grade slipped on the playground and got her clothes wet. While they were going to dry her clothing, the nurse wanted her to put on boys underpants! She said NO. She was NOT taking off her clothes and would not wear anyone elses underwear........... The nurse then called me with the problem and I had Grandma go to our home and fetch dry clothing to her. She was 7 at the time!
How these managers would blindly obey a voice on the phone is also really frightening. What is lacking here is a RESPECT for others -- and themselves. Shame on them.
I think the problem stems from the homelife. If children are not valued and respected and taught to extend this courtesy to others, then how do they know how to act with others.................

It was wrong of the managers even to consider a search without probable cause, a mere accusation is not probable cause. If they suspected the theft to be real they should have called the police and let them conduct the investigation. End of responsibility on the managers part.
This is one of those time when I agree with a lawsuit. I still don't like the amount of money awarded in cases like this, but I agree with the suit.

This sort of stuff is what puts the pause button on the game of life. Even the story is a load of bs if you ask me.

They had this very case on "Prime Time Live" last night. I was beyond angry watching it.. they had the actual tapes from the store. It made me sick that adults actually fell for this. I was disgusted at the adults action all of them.. they should all do time for their stupid actions, what kind of management training does
McDonalds put their people through.... This poor girl was put through hell..
What adult would believe someone on the phone is a cop, especially when they start telling you to do things to this girl that clearly lude, illegal and make no sense at all. LE person would never tell you to do.. Stupid, Stupid people.. no excuse idiots.. throw the book at them,,:-5 :-5

The most shocking thing about it is that the manager(s) didn't have the sense to say, "Well, when you actually get to the store, we'll deal with the situation then," or something like that.
She should have also called the local police station after the phone call to try to verify the situation. The police at the station would have been alarmed, I'm sure.
What was seriously missing here was intelligence on the parts of the managers.
