I was wondering if anyone knew how I can copyright my invention ideas so that people will not steal them and make all of the profits. Does anyone know what i can do or how i can go about making my ideas secure so that i am rightfully credited with the ideas??

Don't listen to her, give them all to me, just write them down and mail them to me. Do not sign your name on them anywhere.

Copywright does cover written material and here in the UK it is implicit. i.e. if I sketch out something on a napkin it's my copywright as long as I have not copied it from someone else it's mine and automatically copywrighted.
patents are tricky and I can only give Uk perpsective, what i will say is a patent is only worth what you are willing to spend to defend it. Best course of action is to research which large companies may be interested in producing your idea. When you have your patent approach them about producing it and copping a royalty.

Agree with Bothwell, get in & get out & cop your royalty. "Patents" are only good for a short period of time. For I have seen many a good patents copied by "overseas" cheap labor houses. All they do is change one or two small features of your patent, and walla, it's now their "new" patent. And then "they" deluge the market with their "cheap" knockoff!
