I love these, there are millions. My friend though the song "Ghostbusters" was "Those B*stards". Desmond Dekkers "The Israelites" I remember being "oh, oh oh, me ears are alight". The Jam's "Eton Rifles" was "Ee's too right boy!", as for Dexy's Midnight Runners, I could never catch a word.

Wasn't it Electric Light Orchestra who did that song, "Blinded By The Light?"

Well, to this day, I could swear they're singin', "wrapped up like a douche in the middle of the night." :guitarist

Douche is correct, maybe?

This is interesting Bruce Springsteen wrote it:

Blinded by the Light

Manfred Mann's Earth Band

- words and music by Bruce Springsteen

- Manfred Mann's Earth Band version (Warner 8252) was released August 1976

and reached #1 in early 1977. It was in the Billboard Top 40 for 15 weeks.

- lyrics as recorded by Manfred Mann's Earth Band on the 1976 album

"The Roaring Silence" (Warner 3055)

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Madman drummers bummers, Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat

In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat

With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older, I tripped the merry-go-round

With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin, the calliope crashed to the ground

The calliope crashed to the ground

But she was...

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Some silicone sister with a manager mister told me I go what it takes

She said "I'll turn you on sonny to something strong, play the song with the funky break"

And go-cart Mozart was checkin' out the weather chart to see if it was safe outside

And little Early-Pearly came by in his curly-wurly and asked me if I needed a ride

Asked me if I needed a ride

But she was...

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light

She got down but she never got tired

She's gonna make it through the night

She's gonna make it through the night

------ guitar solo ------

But mama, that's where the fun is

But mama, that's where the fun is

Mama always told me not to look into the eye's of the sun

But mama, that's where the fun is

Some brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone preacher from the east

Says, "Dethrone the dictaphone, hit it in it's funny bone, that's where they expect it least"

And some new-mown chaperone was standin' in the corner, watching the young girls dance

And some fresh-sown moonstone was messin' with his frozen zone, reminding him of romance

The calliope crashed to the ground

But she was...

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night

I remember another one, I always was a bit preturbed by the lyric in the song "Ventura Highway" by America that went "coz the free wind is flowing through your hair, and the days surround your gay life there" I presumed that was just a Californian thing!

I'm pretty sure the Doors song, "Wild Child," is the one I'm thinking of. It's definitely one of the ones on their, "Soft Parade," album, which has a spoken part right at the end of the song:

When all else fails,

we can whip the horses' eyes,

and make them sleep,

and cry.

Those are the correct lyrics. I was so shocked, though, when I first encountered these words! I still find these words to be sadistic and sad and, as such, very uncommon for the Doors to be singing/reciting. My love for the Doors has always been such that I decided to look at this as just a misnomer from a group that was, otherwise, sacred to me.
