I think the main reason I don't like Christmas is my in-built evilness. :sneaky:

tmbsgrl wrote: How can you all say that you hate holidays?? I love them. They are all about loving and giving.. I look forward to this time all year long! I am so excited!! it is almost time to sit and watch Rudolph and all those Christmas cartoons we grew up with. Even if you don't have family to spend them with go to your church and spend holidays there. This year for Thanksgiving my husband, daughter and I are going to our church to feed people that don't have anywhere to go or any money for food. Of course we'll eat with them. I thought it might be a good way to serve god and a great way to spend Thanksgiving. I like helping people.. :-4
I'm with you darlin! Eat, drink and BE merry! Peace on earth and GOODWILL TOWARDS MEN!(and women) LOL! God BLESS us EVERYONE!

I like the fact that Christmas falls on the week-end and I can go back to work Monday!

Christmas is pushed down ones throat right after Halloween. Too commercialized, friends and family overwhelming you with so much food and beverage that one person couldn't possibly consume. Last year, my table looked like the local liquor store!

Christmas may be a plus for you too this year (and New Years) Since it falls on a Sunday the holiday is recognized the following Monday, and most people have it off)

In the UK we have both Monday and Tuesday off because Christmas day and Boxing day are both Bank holidays here....we also have Monday the 2nd jan off as New years day falls on the Sunday.....not bad then....2 weekends of celebration and the weekdays off as well....

Hmmm correct me if I'm wrong, but I've noticed over the last couple of years, that kids are made to break up a lot later for Christmas than they used to, well at least they do where I live. I remember breaking up around the 18th when I was back at school, and yet my youngest brother breaks up on the 22nd this year.

They are not my family. And i figure this should help ease the way for my not being there for christmas either...

i love starting new traditions...

We never forget what it's about. Our gift giving is a celebration of whose birth we rejoice in. The gift of peace that we received, is shared amongst our loved ones by the gifts of others. True, the world has tried to hijack it with santa and whatnot, but even St. Nicholas celebrated the birth of Christ by passing out gifts to children. My family has never been a 'one-upsmanship' kind of family. My father, who was subject to many a lay-off at the car assembly factory he worked at, explained many a time that the reason we had no gifts that year was because of lack of money. We understood that.
