My wife is an extraoridinary jam-maker and the many fruit trees we have provide her with plenty of product.
She makes an outstanding apple butter, and her grape and cherry are awesome, but for sheer delight there is a tree in our front yard that is a cross between an apricot and a peach. They're called "peachcots", sweeter than peaches, and smoother than apricots.
That is, by far, the best jam in this Universe.

can you make jam out of apples? sounds gak. I like marmite best but I did make a nice blackberry and whiskey jam this summer. Steep the blackberries for a few weeks in whiskey and sugar and away you go.

SnoozeControl wrote: I remember having to make grape jelly in home ec class... gawd, I hated that class! Anyway, you have to cook it to get a seal or it goes bad. At least that's the way it worked in 1974.
