I have seen this happening in this area for a long time. I live in a condo complex south of Seattle (a supposedly "upstanding" community) and almost every night I see one of the local teenage prostitutes out on some corner, hell I know some of the "families" they are in.

They talked about it on Seattle radio today also today, what got me was the fact that most people don't seem to care. And that fact that I really don't care either Ithink the girls are basically a product of this society that is more focused on freedom than the aspects of responsibility. I hear every week about some teenage girl being found in a ditch somewhere murdered.

Who's at fault here? Pop Culture which glamorizes things like this, the lack (?) of standards in this society? Is this a bad sign for society or just a natural part of it? Are parents to blame?

Do you really care? I do not and I cetainly think that we should not be spending tax money on the problem.

****************

I think that having taken the time to note this and post this,

you do indeed care.

It's true that America has many problems, but I'm sure we are not the only ones. Since the only changes we can truely made is in ourselves, maybe the answer is just that each person does what they are able to do and when it is multifplied by the many, change will occur. If a person cares, you do not wait for someone else to step up to the plate -- you take action yourself.

It amazes me that the parents of those "intact families" are apparently hopeless and helpless to prevent their children from going to prostitution. Most parents would move mountains to save their children.

You're right, Scrat. No amount of tax dollars can fix such a problem. Family value and self-respect aren't for sale. Any solution will take at least a generation to have any affect, because we need to indictrinate the children. Unfortunately, American society doesn't have patience any more.

This is a perfect example of the point I was trying to make in the public/private school thread.......Anything can happen anywhere. These "prostitutes" may even attend a local private school.

Legalize prostitution. License it, regulate it, tax it. Take it out of the hands of drugged out pimps and violent criminals.
