Now, we are not a religious family - well, we do not go to church anyway. I do have a deep and abiding faith in God however.
I am also so very sick and tired of everyone having to be PC. So, when I got this e-mail from a member of a yahoo group that both DH and I belong to, I was furious. Apparently, DH was also because when I woke up and checked my mail - he had forwarded it to me.
Subject: DON'T BUY PEPSI IN THE NEW CAN!
Don't buy Pepsi in the new can. Pepsi has a new "patriotic" can
coming out with pictures of the Empire State Building, and the
Pledge of Allegiance on them.
However, Pepsi left out two little words on the pledge,
"Under God."
Pepsi said they didn't want to offend anyone.
In that case, we don't
want to offend anyone at the Pepsi corporate office, either!
So if we don't buy any Pepsi product, they will not be offended
when they don't receive our money that has the words
"In God We Trust" on it.
HOW FAST CAN YOU FORWARD THIS ONE?
My son is pretty upset that he will not be drinking Mountain Dew anymore, but hey. If they didn't want to offend anyone, they should have come up with a different promotion.

*Gasp* But what if rampant obvious and tacky patriotism offends people?
What if the colors red white and blue offend the color blind!
Is Pepsi tying sugar consumption to patriotism? Cause that would offend the diabetics. [heavy sarcasm]
If you look long enough you can find offense in anything.
Ah well. Good thing I never liked Pepsi products in the first place.

I just checked the Pepsi website & found nothing. Anybody have a pic of this new can? It's possible it's a hoax.

Sounds like an 'urban legend' to me, lil. Started by the friendly folks at Coca-Cola? Who knows.
By the way, when I was in grade school, those words were not in the pledge, nor was 'In God We Trust' on paper money (tho' it was on coins).

This Pepsi junk doesn't bother me as much as the 'Politically Correct" wanting to take Christmas off of trees, cards, cookies, vocal greetings, etc. Everything should be called Holiday---holiday tree, holiday cards, holiday cookies. I personally think it is a bunch of &*%#@+&%. Christmas is Christmas, the birth of Christ. Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and what ever the muslims celebrate can be celebrated freely in the USA. Thats what we stand for as of 1776. Don't take our Christain traditions away from us as someone wants to put all the beliefs together in a big pot. Thats isn't any more fair to the other nationalities as it is to us. (Whoops- fell off my soap box.)

Also, Dr. Pepper used to be "to keep you regular"!! Anyone who drinks it,
do the bottles say "10-2-4" still? The flavoring comes from a little bit
of prune juice...

Urban myth.........no prunes.
I think the equivalent of Dr. Pepper in U.K. is Mr. Phibbs (SP) something like that.

The original title of the Beatles' 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' was 'Dr Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. Whether this was a reference to the soft drink is unknown, but a Dr Pepper bottle can be seen in the film 'Let It Be'.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,
I'm a Pepper and you're a Pepper and The Beatles wanted to be Peppers too.
