Part of the trojan actually infect the keyboard itself. Unplug the keyboard and throw it out the window (if on the second floor) or against a sturdy wall (if not). The impact will loosen the trojan's hold and, in rare cases, make you feel better. Now, don't plug the keyboard back in until you get someone knowledgeable to look at it.



The extreme resolution is to use your recovery disc, assuming you have one. My computer was running very slow, so I backed up my documents and used the recovery disc to reformat everything. Yes everything. The next day was downloading upgrades, but it's okay now.

Which trojan horse do you have exactly?

Happened to me last summer. I downloaded something to get rid of the Trojan horse (which didn't work), so I saved all my documents, photos etc and did a complete system restore.....very scary....This took me a whole day and I had to reload all my add-on software afterwards, but it seemed to do the trick although I did lose some files. I have since been ultra careful with things I open / download and made sure that I have decent protection.

It worked for me Arnold....but it took a lot of courage. My 'Puty' was almost un-usable so I really didn't have any options. This virus attacked my ability to log on to the internet and kept destroying all my dial up programmes. I never regretted doing it, SAVE IMPORTANT STUFF on to Discs or floppies BUT DON'T FORGET TO SCAN FIRST FOR THE VIRUS.

On my Norton you can tell exactly where they are coming from, and ping them back as a warning not to try it again.

Arnold, Its now a pop up... If your have deleted the program and restarted its in your Internet Explorer tool bar.. Go through each setting and remove all stupid tools bar.. or lock it.

There is a pop up blocker turn it on, and it should go away.. clear all your cookies, and internet temp files, and history.. then restart your PC. It a popup trying to get you to buy software nothing else.. you will have to clean, clean, clean your PC.. go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, THEN SYSTEM TOOLS,, SELECT DISK CLEAN UP...

It has set registry keys on your computer you can get a free trial copy of REGISTRY MECHANIC and it will clean your PC's registry.. I use it every day.. along with NORTON SYSTEM WORKS, IT WILL CLEAN ANY FOOTPRINTS LEFT BY TROJANS, WORM AND THE LIKE...!!

If you can't find pop up stopper on your internet explorer there is a free one that does the trick it is call POPUP STOPPER..

Another good free program is ZONE ALARM.. if you have a always on connection give this software a look.. free and does the trick.

You may have to repeat the process many times to get rid of the demon... Never click on any popup they are designed to suck you in and this is what happens..

New to posting here but I had a similar problem earlier this month. Whilst a full restore will solve it you might try this first:

In explorer, tools>Internet options>programs>manage add-ons..

In the drop down chose the "currently active/ currently installed. If there is one there that looks suspicious, disable it.

Glad you've got your problem sorted Arnold.

I use F-Secure Internet Security on both my PCs. This includes a firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, parental control, etc. An extra feature that comes with it is a untility that checks for changes in the directory. This is an area that's always best left to the pros as you can render your PC dead if you're not careful. It's called a rootkit checker. Hackers can change the root of a directory and leave you high and dry.

On my main PC, I also use Norton Ghost. This is more than a restore facility. It will keep an exact image of what is on your drives. Providing you keep it up to date whenever you make a change, you can put your computer back exactly as it was.

However, some viruses can stick themselves to your hard drive and survive a reformat. Hence, a drive imaging utility like Norton's is useful as you can get a new drive, replace the old one, and restore all as before minus one pesky bug.

Just to be extra careful, in case my HD breaks down, I keep my important files on two hard drives. I use a caddy in one of the larger bays which means I can slide one out and slide the other one in.
