Charles Clarke tried to get Westminster to accept the data retention directive from the european union, as this directive allows governments to collect imformation on there peoples in order as the directive says to allow governments to control the population. Parliament through it out, Clarke then went to europe and asked the european parliament to force the British to take this directive as law. Even though this directive has been described as the ist step to a police state. Comments please.

Everything this Government has done has been done to control our every actions. If they carry on as they are, they'll be counting the number of times we use the loo and will be charging us a loo visiting tax.

You are not wrong my friend, the question is how much further do we let them go before we stop them with a bump. A hppy new year to you.

Can you imagine what it would take to organise even a simple demo. On top of anything else, you would need a 'majority' demo. No government would heed anything less. It would take one hell of a person to pull that one off.

I know it will be difficult but I was brought up in the naval tradition(the impossible done straight away miracles take a little longer) Besides I have a cunning plan which with a little luck and a large miracle will see the cabinet on trial for treason and subversion of allegiance. If you have a God I could use your having a word with him. I have joined the united kingdom independence party please follow my lead.

Best of luck with your plan Twizzel. I will pray for you.
As for joining any party at the moment, I am still in the tedious process of scanning their various manifestos.

What they have suggested is an income tax instead of the VAT system of indirect taxatuion we currently have which would be fairer and cheaper to administer. Note this is a suggedstion not somethinmg they are going to bring in.

If we were not in the eec we would still have to comply with EEC rules in order to trade with them. We already having to comply with eec directives that have an adverse effect on us and put up costs as it is-such as the insurance directeve and all the money laundering provisions, as it is this is just one of the latest.
Look at the bright side, at least you now have a human rights act so you can take your govt to the european court if you are not happy. That is an improvement on before.
The bulk of our trade is with europe-trade with eastern euriope has grown 400% in the last five years. Briitain is a trading nation and has always done best when it remembers that and keeps away from mercantilist, inward looking xenophobic politics.
Try asking businesses that trade with europe if they want to be outside the EEC, there will be much about it they dislike and our politicians don't defend our corner well enough a-la Tony Blair who is a weasel anyway, but the principle is sound. Most europeans want it as a trading group, political integration is something very few want. Do you really think the french, spanish, czechs etc want to be ruled from Brussels?
or look around at the regions that have done well out of the EU regional fund with monies that would not have been forthcoming from westminster, or look at the inward investment that would go elsewhere if we were not within the EEC. The world doesn't owe Britain a living we'd do better to stop feeling hard done by and look instead at the many British companies that do well on a world wide stage and need to be in a large economic group to have the clout to negotiate with China or the US rather than to hunt for scraps from the big boys and tag along behind on their coat tails.
UKIP are a bunch of pathetic losers that would destroy this ccountry if they got anywhere-as it is they get protest votes rather than any real support. All they had going for them was a good fake tan and even that lost its shine.

Gordon Brown is scots as well. Please don't hold it against us, it's embarrassing enough as it is. However, compared to the numpties that we have in the scottish executive they are talented, honourable, honest and dedicated individuals who know what they are doing.

Ah Wallace, betrayed by the scots nobility, we have a remarkable talent for letting rogues lead us.
Why do you think it is illegal to say you are english? So long as you don't say British when you mean English I don't care and think you should say it as often as you like. Wave the English flag at football internationals, just don't wave the Union Jack in the mistaken belief it is the English one.
Who cares what foreigners think? Since when did any englishman worth his salt worry about saying what they think? Be proud to be English, it's an accident of birth and not your fault!:sneaky:
