"Ordinary" people do get awards - it's just that they don't get the media coverage that the B-list celebrity idiots get. As for Tom Jones, I think it's really a CBE for the astounding ability to wear a burgundy brillo pad on his head and still go out of his house......takes cojones, that......tom cojones......:p
