While their dad and stepmom went to Vegas for the New Year's weekend!

From San Ramon, Calif. (SF Bay Area):

A 5 year old autistic boy and his 9 year old brother were left home alone

starting last Friday night. Parents flew to Vegas, and got back this

morning only to be arrested and charged with felony child endangerment.

(YES!!!!) The two boys had apparently been left with cereal, and frozen

dinners that they heated in the microwave for lunch and dinner. Police

found the boys sleeping after the grandmother called with her suspicions

they might be alone. They were using a gas fireplace for heat.

Boys are fine and staying with relatives for now.

.... and autistic to boot! Those kids have a difficult time handling any kind of change in their life or routine.... It must have happened a lot if he didn't flip. Believe you me, autistic 5 year olds can flip big time... I've had the bruises to show for it.

There is a reason that the foster care system has more than the average share of special needs kids. The parents many times can't handle it + the parents are watched with more scrutiny by health care workers and teachers.

It makes me so angry what some parents put their kids through. This is one reason I believe that the government should provide free sterilization for any adult who wants it.

I know a guy and his wife, which I have no association with at all now, were arrested for selling their children, 3 of them, on the black market for $100,000 each. The crappy thing about it is they served their time, got out of jail, and now have another child, last I heard it was one, could be more though. Where's the justice in that?

A lot of parents just don't care anymore and that's what's wrong with kids today. My kids try to do what they want only to get reality snapped back into them. I'm boss not them, they will respect ALL people and only tell me when something isn't right and I will tell the adult(that way no one can say I have mouthy kids!). No one argues with me. I'm not always right, but by golly when I am or they are, I let them know it.

I work with the SPED kids - many of them have Down's syndrome and 4 are Autistic.

The autistic kids require special directives and patterns that they get used to - usually takes 5 years to learn.........What I really feel about these kids is that they are trapped in their minds with only life patterns that keep them centered. It takes years for them to learn a new pattern that reaches their BRAIN. I know I'm talking funny but if we could get them at 3 instead of 10 or 15 they could function at a halfway house level for autistics. NO - they could never function in normal society.

Anyone who abuses a child whether its leaving it home alone, hitting, mentally abusing and that includes being a junkie should never be allowed access to a child ever again.
