Is there a way to get another cell phone to use under an old contract. We only have 5 months left and they want us to spend $200.00 on a cell phone whithout a NEW FREAKING 2 YEAR CONTRACT!!!!!! Anyone at Fg have an old phone to sell us? OR maybe a palm pilot instead for BTS.........

Far Rider wrote: what service? if its a major one go down to the local store and buy a trac phone $20 bucks) and tell them you want the sim card for it... its all you need, any of them can be programmed with the sim card to your service. If its one of the major services.

Cool - we will try that tomorrow.

Did you have insurance on the phone if you did its should be replaced free that is what its for.. If they want your business they will accomodate your needs even if your not ready for an upgrade.. Or just by a Trac phone like FAR mentioned. It's all a racket, they make money big time on you so keep bugging them..

Bummer I just gave my LG VX6100 to my daughter, she took it down and had it Activated to her number and the rest was FLASHED OVER... It was time for my 2year upgrade so I got a Motorola E815 very cool phone.

Hey NV what service do u have?..We just got new phones and ours were not that old. I will send it to you- if it works great- if not throw it away! Actually don't - give it to your local Woman Abuse Center as they use them for 911 calls...

I have a similar question :

I found a cell phone on the sidewalk a year ago. Turned it in to the police. Nobody claimed it, so now it's mine.

Can I get this phone activated on a new account, or do I need to know pass codes, etc. keyed in by the previous owner ?

R.B.

You have to make a police report and then they give you a refurbished phone and you still pay something.....this is with the insurance......thank god my phone showed up before I got the report. This was Verizon.

I just had a new phone given to me and it was locked to the Orange network, my contract is with Voda,

i just took it along to a local shop and they unlocked it for me and opened it up to any network.

Surely you are able to do this in the states too?.

If there is an outstanding bill on the phone, that would have to be paid off first, but otherwise you should be able to turn it on in your name. I did it once a few years ago. The bill was about 60 bucks, but I got a heck of a nice phone out of it.

I guess its resonable to require proof of a stolen phone.. Or everyone would be getting replacement phone just because.. !!@ If you have the proof a refurbished phone can be just as good as a new one most of the time...

Like I said its all a money machine anyway.. !! They get your money ... Kinda like cable TV, but thats a whole other thread..
