Would you report some one for committing a crime, of the varying degrees of crime what do you find acceptable .I myself would shop someone in a heartbeat ,but everyone is different and everone has their own ideas .obviously murder ,rape and pedophiles are at the top of most peoples mind when you think of crime but how do you feel about crime in general and prison widows could you wait years for the old man to do his time and what do you think about the people that do - i just think they are really sad .

I can remember calling the police to bust the crack house two doors down-the police wouldn't do it. I had to report it to another law enforcement agency, but by the time they made up their minds to stop there, days later, it of course had moved on.

Ted Bundy ended up marrying one of his penpals, if I remember correctly. Granted, he was a good looking guy, but he was evil incarnate. Brrr!
It seems to be happening all the time - i dont get it maybe they want to reform them which is silly because there not going anywhere .

I haven't encountered much that I was aware of. I recently reported my employer for not paying my drivers time-and-a-half for overtime work. It was difficult explaining to the authorities that I wasn't cheated, yet I was making the report. They couldn't quite grasp the concept.

It depends. Lots of grey areas to be interpteted here. If a neighbor was rolling joints next door, thats none of my business, I wouldnt dream of interfering. I suppose it would come down to is someone at risk ? If the potential for harm existed I would get involved.
A few yrs. ago a I had a part time job, and the kid I worked with was selling Ecstasy under my nose. I told him if I ever saw it again it would be the last. At the time it seemed the right way to handle it.
Prison wives ? I dont care, its their life.

I guess there are some "crimes" that I just feel are more interference than actual crimes, like prostitution (not that Ive indulged, I havent) if he wants her and she wants his money, what do I care ?

prostitution is not a victimless crime. it usually involves and supports the drug trade.

My problem with prostitution is what it does to the prostitute, I think it destroys a person. And should be outlawed. In the worst countries they are kids, young girls 15 to18... now thats just wrong. They arent old enough to understand the effects on their bodies or their mind and are often forced to it by circumstances or by unscrupulous men.
I agree with this 100% Whatever got them there wasnt good and it will only get worse. Its really sad what people are capable of doing to themselves. I just dont think you can effectively enforce morality. I heard on the radio this morning prostitution is legal in Canada, theyre getting geared up over the border for Superbowl, Ive never heard this before.

Victimless...probably not, but I dont think you can say lets stop prostitution because it might lead to other crimes.
In a best case scenario Nevada seems to have the right idea if your going to have a liberal attitude about it ( or at least a if we cant stop it, lets make it safer )

i arrest prostitutes, and johns, because it's illegal. the whore usually has crack rocks on her when i search her. she is hooking for crack in 98% of cases. so someone is supporting the crack dealer. if you mean let's legalize it,and keep it clean of drugs and AIDS, OK, but the way it stands now it's all interwoven and connected with dope. (oh, and PS, 98% of the hookers have AIDS too, and are passing it around to the dumbass johns.)

Far Rider wrote: I disagree here as well... why do we give up and give in on such things? thats defeatest. If its a good thing to stop (because it protects people) then making it lawful condones it... you've just told all the prostuties that their bodies and spirits are worthless.
I cant disagree with you, but practically speaking its not going to just go away. Its a little like prohibition, knock one still down three more pop up. But how do you reach a persons spirit when all we do is lock them up and theyre bailed out 3 hrs later. The problem starts way before the first time they hit the street. I always say keep your children close people. Thats where it all starts, at home. Its not such a black and white issue.

I was waiting for the new thread, but here's just as good, I guess.
If it's among consenting adults, it should be legal. Apply that to whatever behavior you like. Religion, sex, recreation, business, whatever.

Sometimes they screw up again, then get mad that you don't cover for them again. I hate being betrayed.

I'd venture to guess that you all know how I feel about crime...of any kind. After spending my youth as a criminal, and learning a hard lesson on it, I am now the very spirit of civic responsibility.
So much so that I can drive Snoozecontrol crazy at the drop of a hat.
I even reported my neighbor for having an abandoned car in front of his house for the past year. It's gone today and I feel great about that!:D

Huh? Did you miss out on the blazing, emotional free-for-all that was previously named the "Brokeback Mountain Thread" and is now being called "ForumGardern Flame War One?"
Well don't ask me about it, I'm not going there ever again, ever.:-3
