Over here, on the 14th of February, we celebrate SAINT Valentine's Day. Who got rid of the "Saint"? Every year I have been finding it more and more difficult to buy a Valentine card for my wife and daughter. This year, I've given up - what ever shop I enter, I see the same smutty messages, full of sexual inuendos. It's really sad. Call me an old fogey, but sex has very little to do with REAL romance. Yes, I'm absurdly old fashioned, and chivalrous with it. Maybe that's why I've been happily married for coming up to thirty years. Happy SAINT Valentines day to all!

Lon was being nice and his Valentines wish had nothing to do with sex or smut either, why did you have to start a rant in his nice wishes post? I think that is kind of rude dont you?

Lon: THanks so much! Im expecting a nice dinner this week from my husband!! Have a nice day!

How lovely

DG I don't think Fred was being rude, he has a point many of the cards our there are getting kinda trashy. I think that is all he meant.

Anyway I saw his point... I think.

Regardless I guess the occasion is what we make of it.

No offence meant to anybody. All I was trying to point out was the fact that the cards you see in the shops these days ( in London anyway ) are becoming totally unsuitable for sending to one's partner.

equally difficult to find one to send to someone that you haven't reached that serious "I Love You" stage with. hehehehe

I totally understand what you are saying Frederick and have to agree.

It is VERY hard to find a beautiful card unless you spend a fortune on a handmade card. However, you could try M&S, they don't go in for tat.

Lon, the flowers are beautiful and you're a sweetheart.

Thankyou so much. Hugs.

And happy valentines day to all you boys and girls, hope you all have a scrumplicious day!

Big hugs also to my other half! He gave me the new Pride & Prejudice DVD starring Keira Knightley! I LOVE it and have watched it twice already today (got it early! hehe) But he's caught me on the hop because we don't normally celebrate St. Val's Day. Uh-oh! Gonna have to nip out p.d.q. in the morning and find him something!
