Valuable Info About Strokes

------ A neurologist says that if he can

get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of

a stroke...totally.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple

questions:

1. *Ask the individual to SMILE.

2. *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

3. *Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. . It is

sunny out today) If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call

9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

People frequently recover entirely from strokes. My neighbour had a big one two years ago. He is now fully functional. Another person I know, a philosophy professor, woke up to find he could only speak German (not his first language). Seems the language part of his brain had been effected, except for this one area. Over time, he regained his first language.

It is an interesting site, but it didn't have any info on cerebral hemorraghe. I would be interested on information about that.

I do know several stroke victims that have made remarkable recoveries, that was very good advice, coberst.

Good information.

Taking a daily Baby Aspirin could help in preventing a stroke.
