:wah: It's ok clipper I have a habit of pulling up flowers before they have bloomed cause I thought they were weeds :o

I'm ready for spring, need to clean out my flower beds, and prepare my plot for my garden this year.

Oh no not 2 acres for me. I'm just going to start off small. I mainly want tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. I may also grow some pumkins and watermelons.

Is it hard growing tomatoes in pots? I want both cherry and regular tomatoes.

I just moved into an apartment with a balcony and am hoping to grow some tomatoes in a window box. We get good morning sun, so I am thinking they should do good.

Clipper, I haven't grown tomatoes in years and never in a window box. I know I am going to have to fashion a trellis for them to climb (or be tied to so they don't fall over) but if you have any other tips, they would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I HATE winter so I can't wait for the warmth of spring!

Clipper wrote: Nope....I start with clean fill, potting soil, and goose it up with a little fertilizer. I have a drip hose set-up for watering em each day. I stake the plants right to the deck railing.

Last year I had so many cherry maters we nearly got sick of eating em....tasty little rascals....:D

I'll have to try that. thanks :wah:

See how much us city girls know about 'maters!

I have an empty window box, so I just assumed it would work. Will go out and find a couple of 5 gallon buckets!

I'm ready! Carla, I've been growing tomatoes year round too, although, I'm not in what is that down there zone 8 hardiness? I miss living in the tropics... I have to grow them in the conservatory up here over the winter... cherry and "fourth of july" tomatoes mostly... up to 4 oz. size or so... the larger ones aren't ripening very well, though.

The citrus trees and pineapples are doing pretty well though! :p Go figure...

I'm actually setting up a gardening forum this very moment, too... and next month I'll go ahead and start some seeds in the greenhouse for the outside gardens. I can't wait to get started. :D

It's pretty cold here at the moment and very dry....water shortage is pretty dire...

The corcuses are flowering and other bulbs are poking through.. The camellia i bought last year looks beautiful .

I might start thinking about hanging baskets in april...sometimes I grow cherry tomatoes in hanging baskets and herbs too. The hosepipe ban will continue here so i have to plan around that. I'll probably just maintain what exists and pray for rain.

Funny how for most of you it's talk of gardening. For me? My carb parts have arrived, and soon it will be time to be back on two wheels!
