I'll be leaving for 12 days to visit Melbourne and the Victoria region. This will be my first trip to Melbourne. I have been to Sydney and Brisbane a number of times and even way up to Darwin once. Got a great deal on "Pacific Blue" some months ago, flying out of Christchurch to Oz and return. Glad to have made accomodation reservations months ago as the "Commonwealth Games" will begin just when we come back to Christchurch. I'll take lots of digital pics and post a few on FG. By way---Lady Cop----You gotta see the Gold Coast some time. In some respects it makes Miami Beach look like third world.
Sorry----but when you post to the Travel and Vacation Forum you get "Welcome to my Day"

Have a safe and fun trip Lon!!! On the subject of the Commonwealth Games - and I'm still reeling from the Winter Olympics - I read in this morning's newspaper that the Queen of England is going to be here next weekend to open them. She's officially still queen of Australia too, which is anachronistic and rather embarrassing.. and there's been a kerfuffle about whether we play her song - God Save the Queen - or our National Anthem.. Advance Australia Fair. Not that people here object to Queen Elizabeth personally, I'm sure, though things will be different if her eldest offspring ever gets to the throne. But I digress.. grin. Enjoy Melbourne, Lon. I've been to Heron Island in Queensland.. white sand, turquoise water, coral reefs, brilliantly coloured fish to snorkel among,... ahhhhhhh... Maybe the FG folk should rendezvous there one year????? When's the London gathering? I may well be there then.
