WATER OR COKE?

This is really an eye opener...Water or Coke?

We all know that water is important but,

I've never seen it written down like this before.

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so

weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's

metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger

pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a

University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses

of water a day could significantly ease back and

joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy

short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and

difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a

printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the

risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the

risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less

likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol

carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove

blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and

it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into

the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one

hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke

removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub

the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap

aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals:

Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble

away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked

in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into

the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and

bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished,

remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix

with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke

into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run

through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help

loosen grease stains.

9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.

Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4days.

Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones

and is a major contributor to the rising increase in

osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the

commercial truck must use the Hazardous material

place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to

clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass

of water?

Abso-*******-lutely !

Water is essential to good health.

If your tired, weak or feeling run down, water and friut like an apple or orange will immediately re-surface your energy.

Phosphoric acid....not so good.

Scientist Calls For Warnings, Tax On Soda

Soda Industry, Researcher Face Off On Obesity Debate

A fight is brewing between health researchers and the beverage industry over whether a warning should be put on soda.

University of North Carolina scientist Barry Popkin is pushing for a warning label for sodas and linking their consumption to obesity. He said the nation got heavier at the same rate soda became more popular.

Kevin Keane of the American Beverage Association said it's unfair to hold one product responsible for the nation's obesity problem. He said children are much less active now than a few years ago.

Popkin is also in favor of a soda tax, such as the one on tobacco. He said studies involving the links of soda and obesity are at the same stage as studies on tobacco and health problems several years ago, when those warnings were issued.

coke is loaded with caffine too I think, and Caffine is dehydrating. I think I need to take a walk to the water cooler.....

Dehydration can cause headaches too was that mentioned in there, instead of taking a pain killer drink water for headaches first....

Pity about all those trips to the toilet though !!! OK...I'll give it a whirl for a few days and let you know how much more energised I feel. It will be hard...I really dislike water.

I drink lots of coffee .... maybe 12 small cups a day.....this is really bad isn't it ???

Water is my choice of beverage. Sometimes I think I drink too much of it....twelve plus glasses per day. Whenever I travel or hike, I carry bottled water with me. Never drink coke.

Yes.

Think health when you drink your water. Your body requires and craves it. It becomes habit.

i liked this bit from snopes........:wah: The next time you're stopped by a highway patrolman, try asking him if he's ever scrubbed blood stains off a highway with Coca-Cola (or anything else). If you're lucky, by the time he stops laughing he'll have forgotten about the citation he was going to give you.

I never drink Pop/soda but drink about 4 or 5 pints of water at work every day. At home I just stick to tea or coffee.

I love water, especially when it's diluted. I bought some powdered water, but I didn't know what to add to it.

the sugar in coke is the *real* problem. all refined sugars do just lousy things to the body. lots of 'unrefined' or 'natural' sugars will do the same thing. there's tons of sugar in 100% pure apple juice, orange juice, etc. - i drink those only on rare occasion, and as a 'treat'. i'd no more drink most juices every day than i would sugared sodas.

i'll take diet sodas any day over sugared sodas. what dangers or risks there may be from the artificial sweeteners pales compared to the 350 pounds i'd put on in no time if i drank sugared sodas regularly.......

I haven't drunk coke in donkey's years (whatever a donkey's year is:thinking: ). Just don't like the stuff, or anything that's fizzy (apart from the very occasional Tango orange).

I rarely drink tea or coffee nowadays, but I drink tons of water, beer and wine (but not at the same time).

Did you know that if you alternate every alcoholic beverage you drink with a glass of water you'll cut your chances of suffering from a hangover by about 80%?

Interesting. Why drink anything?

If it's because you're hungry and there's no solid food available - give me a glass of milk, if it's for social/ relaxation reasons - give me a good glass of aussie wine. If it's to kickstart my day, give me a double espresso. If it's because I'm thirsty - give me water, every time.

An update on my first day of drinking more water.....starter target 1 litre per day.

It is now 1.15pm and I have drunk half a litre and am half way through the second half litre. I am confident that i'll finish this before i leave work.

I have had 3 cups of coffee so far today so have cut down by at least half.

I am going to a Buddhist meeting tonight...all that chanting is thirsty work so I'll probably consume another half litre....I reckon I'm doing quite well.

I do believe that 2 litres a day is reccomended....anyone know ???

I'll let you all know when I begin to feel energised... :)

Yes, BR, I do know this and this works fine when I'm by myself.

But when I'm with mates, I'm not going to be asking them for a pint of water when it's their round.:D

1.5 litres is the recommended daily minimum.

I have also read that starting the day with a gallon of water is very energising. Takes some practising, though, and initially, the effects are very unpleasant until the body gets used to it. I've tried and I can't get past two and a half pints, then spend the next hour sounding like a water bag.:D

Apart from one coffee and a couple of teas, all I drink is water. I don't really like soft drinks unless I'm desperate. I used to find that half a can of coke was all I needed even if I was thirsty, but I was once so thirsty in Spain that I drank 4 cans one after the other and still craved more. Imagine all that sugar.
