I don't have anything to eat at home. I'd like to make something good for dinner, but only get off work at 6 tonight. Any suggestions? I'll have to stop at the grocery store, of course. I don't have a whole bunch of money, either.

I was thinking more along the lines of dinner. Something not in a pinch, but not elaborate either. I've eaten so many sandwiches lately, I'm starting to sign things with "Oscar Meyer"!! LOL!!

Man, I'm making myself hungry!

MMM!! That does sound good!! I'm hoping to make something that I can have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. I have a recipe where I cook together bacon & cabbage, then add cooked pasta (I normally use rotini). Mix it up real good & serve. Then add soy sauce to the serving. It's yummy!!! Learned it from a friend.

Pasta is always good to eat, quick & easy to make...and cheap!

I cook it with quorn mince (which is a mushroom derivitive) and much healthier than beef mince. Quorn's flavourless so you just need to chuck in something to give it flavour. I usually use sweetcorn (tinned) and a stock cube, but you can put in anything really ~ baked beans, vegetables, kidney beans, tinned tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers...whatever you like. Its a bit bland in the taste and texture department otherwise. But its quick to make...only takes about half an hour from start to finish.

Oh, and my kids like pasta in tomato soup with meatballs on top and some cheese. You don't even need to heat the soup, just pour it over the hot drained pasta and the pasta heats it up for you! :-6

Melt a big hunk of butter in a skillet. Throw in some minced garlic. Let that brown a bit. Toss in a handful of shrimp, and some of that fake krab meat, add a bit more butter as the krab soaks it up. Toss in a little flour to thicken it up. Let it heat, then throw the whole contraption over linguine noodles.

YUM!!!!!

BR, that sounds delicious!! Actually, I've been hungry for linguini with clam sauce lately. A friend used to make it for me, but she's since moved far away & has no contact with anyone around here. I would assume it can't be that difficult to make... :-3

When I want to cook something fast this is what I make.

Brown in skillet 1 lb of hamburger. Add a small can of diced green chilis. Also add 1 tablespoon of onion flakes, 1 tablespoon dried cilantro, and garlic to your taste. I usually add about 1/2 tablespoon. When meat has browned, drain and return to pan. Then add 1 can sliced mushrooms with juice, can of chopped black olives, 1 can of tomatoe sauce, and a medium size jar of picante sauce. It's up to you on what brand and spicyness. Simmer for 20 minutes. You then serve this on flour torillas, cheese and sourcream and wrap to form a burrito.

This is also great as leftovers, my husband claims it's better the next day. :wah:

How about FETTUCINI ALFREDO with a mixed GREEN SALAD on the side. It's inexpensive and quick to prepare.

Two bell peppers

Cut the top off and clean them out.

Fill it with Jambalaya rice and ground beef

top with Monterey Jack Cheese (or whatever you like) and heat at 350F until cheese melts.

You can also make it Italian by using marinara instead of rice and Mozzerelle instead of cheese.
