May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Well Ireland is a wonderful place, and I should know I have been there countless times to visit a lot of my relatives who live over there. If u haven't been there then I would highly recommend doing so, there are a lot of great sights and people to meet over there. Oh and you have to visit the Giant's Causeway should u do so, as it is spectacular.

Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ra
That's An Irish Lullaby
Download Midi File
Lesley Nelson-Burns
Information LyricsThe lyrics to Too Ra Loo Ra Loo Ral were written in 1913 by James Royce Shannon (1881-1946). It premiered in Chauncey Olcott's production of Shameen Dhu (Black-haired Jimmy). The song later became a hit for Bing Crosby who sang it in Going My Way (1944). Chauncey Olcott was born in Buffalo, New York. He produced several shows about Ireland for the New York stage.
Over in Killarney,
Many years ago,
Me mither sang a song to me
In tones so sweet and low.
Just a simple little ditty,
In her good ould Irish way,
And I'd give the world if she could sing
That song to me this day.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush, now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.
Oft, in dreams I wander
To that cot again,
I feel her arms a huggin' me
As when she held me then.
And I hear her voice a humin'
To me as in days or yore,
When she used to rock me fast asleep
Outside the cabin door.
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Hush, now don't you cry!
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral,
That's an Irish lullaby.

Nothing too exciting, I have to work tomorrow so I will be taking things easy. I'm watching the first series of Battlestar Galactica at the moment
We will just take a walk into town and get some food and enjoy the buzz.

McNamara's Band
Oh! Me name is McNamara,
I'm the leader of the band.
Although we're few in numbers
We're the finest in the land.
We play at wakes and weddings
And at ev'ry fancy ball,
And when we play to funerals
We play the march from Saul.
Oh! The drums go bang,
And the cymbals clang,
And the horns they blaze away;
McCarthy pumps the old bassoon
While I the pipes do play;
And Hennessey Tennessee tootles the flute,
And the music is somethin' grand;
A credit to old Ireland is McNamara's band.
Oh! My name is Uncle Yulius and
From Sweden have I come,
To play with McNamara's band
And bear the big bass drum,
And when I march along the street
The ladies think I'm grand
They shout "There's Uncle Yulius
Playing with an Irish band"
Oh! I wear a bunch of shamrocks
And a uniform of green,
And I'm the funniest looking Swede
That you have ever seen.
There's O'Briens and Ryans
And Sheehans and Meehans
They come from Ireland, but by Yimminy
I'm the only Swede in McNamara's band.
Oh! The drums go bang,
And the cymbals clang,
And the horns they blaze away;
McCarthy pumps the old bassoon
While I the pipes do play;
And Hennessey Tennessee tootles the flute,
And the music is somethin' grand;
A credit to old Ireland is McNamara's band.

Ouch you have to work Saturday, that is a shame, guess that means no late night drinking and partying for u!! :wah:
I know that my Irish relatives are all really geared up for today, and from what I hear celebrations, parades and sing songs are going to be very common place. I wish I was there, I bet it is going to be one heck of a experience I'm sure.

I hope that everyone realises that the cabbage heads are supposed to be for good luck, and not take it the wrong way when one gets hurled towards them hahahaha. :p

Its also huge in New York, practically every Irishman who emigrated to the States must be in that corner of the US! :wah:
In 1948, when my dad was 21 he went to New York with his cousin.
It was the year Judy Garland (my dad's all-time favourite actress) made "Easter Parade" set in New York. My dad's claim to fame is that he and his cousin walked arm-in-arm with Judy Garland along 5th Avenue(?) in the Easter Parade.
I've looked everywhere on the net for a photo of this as there MUST be one somewhere! Does anyone know where else I could look? Or if perchance you should ever see such a pic.........LET ME KNOW!!! Please!!
My dad at the time was very tall (6 foot 4") and skinny and had black hair with a white "mallen" streak down the centre!
Here's hoping!

St. Patricks Day is big here also, I have been to the town square where there is Irish dancers and singers. I hadn't realised there was so many Irish living here. The locals joined in also (any excuse for a party). Everyone is wearing big green hats and drinking guiness from big plastic glasses. I even got the train home with some leprechauns who were a little worse for the wear, still singing and drinking their guiness. :wah:
