Where Do Dead Flies Go?

Not the flies we swat, but the ones that die naturally. I never seem to see any fly corpses laying about, just the one's that I have squished with the fly swatter. Maybe there are fly angels that haul them off to Fly Heaven.

I think you'll find them in the bakers, all squished up inside two bits of pastry.

"Fly cemetery's" they're delicious.

There was an old lady who swallowed a fly.

I don't know why she swallowed a fly.

Perhaps she'll die...

i too have noticed this phenomenon. no where in Hi-traffic areas or in living areas are fly carcases located.

but if you go to a store room on the second floor of an old house or a room that nobody uses any more... it looks like something out of the Amittyville Horror.

Lol! They used to fly into the conservatory at my parents old house, because it was so warm, but then the suffocating heat would kill them. They would then have to be swept up! Yuk! 20-30 or so, every day!

Also, mice, rats, frogs and spiders are amongst those who find them very tasty!

Yum! ;) :p

There was an old lady who swallowed a spider

That wiggled and wriggled and tickled inside her.

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly

I don't know why she swallowed a fly.

Flopstock, now that you mention thought provoking, insightful debates... perhaps we could get Lon to kick off some other related questions like, for instance

Do flies have a soul?

If you enjoy talking about dead flies does this constitute domestic drosophilia necrophilia???

Should the old lady who swallowed all those live critters (if she survives) be considered criminally insane or indicted for animal cruelty, or if animals have souls is this murder???

Do flies have a soul? No but they have a pre-life and after-life. In their pre-life they were of Middle Eastern Origin and thought that when they died they would have access to 756 Virgins. Little did they know that they would become flies when they died. In the flies after-life they become maggots.

No to question #2

The old lady that swallowed all the flies should recieve honorable mention in the Guiness Book of Records.

756 virgin flies????

Lon - you're obviously a man of great wisdom and culture - and should no doubt have your own Ask Lon Everything thread, if of course you don't already..

I had been considering writing my PhD on the psychological/sociological hic reasons behind the existence, nay even pre-existence of such threads... But, now I think you have led me to see that I've been called instead to focus my research on the psychology and sociology of flies and in particular, virgin flies.

I like to hoover up spiders & flies!

My Dyson (hoover) sucks all the spiders legs off so they end up as raisins inside the clear plastic middle of the hoover. You can see them shouting at you and trying to shake their fist at you for bugging them (intentional pun there! hehehe)

Then they realise they have no fists..................hehehe

With flies you just have to wave the long sucky stretchy pipe thingy around in the air and gradually *schluup* the hoover sucks 'em all up!

You'd never know how sadistic I am to little creepy-crawlies if you met me!

The innocent face of the mass murderer............... :wah:

Flies probably land on sole! especially if its a few days old!

Necrophilia is actually shagging dead bodies. Has anyone ever tried to shag a fly?

(NB. If he has, he'd never satisfy a woman!) :wah:

Naw. The old gal is just a common-or-garden carnivore, who likes her meat cooked 'extremely rare'! :D

I have a very large and very beautiful conifer tree in my garden. It is home to lots of birds of different kinds, and occasionally to squirrels too.

Every single neighbour seems to have at least one cat, and they all seem to think my garden is their territory! Sadly, I sometimes find a ton of feathers at the bottom of my tree, or a birds nest with broken eggs in!

So no to the beef patties. It is the way of nature for the birds to go in the cats..... and the cats to go in the local chinese's takeaway menu.............. ;)
