I cannott receive instant e mail notification from the forum. So I am losing keeping up with threads. The problem has been going on for about 12 days now. Ive tried everything. Tombstone and Anastrophe have tried to resolve it. No good. Ive been in touch with verizon. No good. The problem seems to have started right after I down loaded verizons security suite in place of norton security. Why would forum garden be blocked? Anyone have any info to help with this? I want my notification back!!

Weeder, I hope your ordinary email is working because I just mailed you about "times" tomorrow. If it isn't, shall I try a pm?

Why not remove the verizon security and go back to using Norton and see if it works then?

Nomad Happened to me a couple of weeks ago also... Then I got 117 messages
Anastrophe... could see 157 messages blocked by the server.
Peg..... Verizons system is better and was 2.47 a month. But I am going to dismantle it tomorrow.. if the clog doesnt resolve itself.
Thanks guys:)

There should be a feature in any spam control to allow emails from specific addresses. When you start using a new security software, it is vital to keep checking the deleted email box and validating email that you want. Verizon has an active spam feature that 'learns' according to what you program it to accept. I advise that you read the help files. It's worth sticking to Verizon over Norton. It just means a little extra work at the outset.

Open Mind... I felt that verizons program seemed better also. Might I ask how you are familiar with it if you are in England? You dont have verizon there do you?
Where is the spam controll feature?
How do I check deleted e mail? I only see a log of blocked e mail and I would have to know forum gardens code to recognize it as theirs.
Thank you for helping Weeder

I followed the instructions to dismantle the incoming e mail scan. There are 115 messages blocked. Nothing works

You're still having trouble with this, Weeder? Damn, I wish I knew what to do...have you PM'ed Floppy? She seems to know a bit about this sort of thing, maybe she can be of help.
Edited to add: When my pop up blocker blocks something, I can click on it, and it gives me a drop down box and the option to "always allow from this site." I have no idea if that's related in any way at all to what you're experiencing, though. Technology is frustrating, isn't it???

Try setting up an account with hotmail and use that for your mail.

This is also outlook express. If I set up another account,,,wouldnt I have to change my e mail address?
BR The pop up box does not appear.
I think the key might be the active spam feature that Open Mind mentioned. But I do not know how to find that. Its 2 weeks today and this is really pissing me off.

I've come across Verizon in magazine items. It's difficult to be specific about a program I haven't used, but these spambusters tend to have the same features, just different methods for achieving them.
If you use Outlook, you can check the address by right-clicking on the name in the 'From' field and then clicking on 'Properties'. The address is up the top by the envelope. Only the part between the two symbols applies.
Verizon, like every other spam buster has to have a control you can use to teach it which emails are spams or not. For more help, you might start with
www.pcpro.co.uk which should lead you to some good blogs.

Ope mind I learned a lot from you. I dismantled the spam filter option. Didnt work. But I read a statement from verizon regarding spam filtering. They are protecting 4 million customers. So when they filter spam... some mail that you want to receive gets blocked. You can request that a certain address not be blocked... but they do not guarantee you that it will be approved. You are trying to put the sender on a white list. But any way Im going to try the instructions you just sent. Have a nice Sunday... Weeder

If Verizon fails, you might try F-Secure's software. I would recommend it and you have more control over it.

Weeder...can't you specify who you want blocked and who you don't. I have Norton anti virus and Internet security...it's pretty efficient. I've never heard of the people you are using at the moment....no help at all am I ?
Have your current people got a helpline or website that could help ?
I have Hotmail for e-mails ...they are pretty straightforward to use.
