Going over to CBS... for a cool 15 mil a year. I think Katie's attractive

and seems to have a nice personality... but I've never figured her for

the hard news type. I know CBS is hoping she'll bring up their ratings,

and she probably will, but I think this thing is going to maybe backfire for

them after a bit.



Bet she's glad no more early mornings!!

why is it i don't care? yesterday i was totally disgusted that it was treated as hard news all day, i had to turn off the telly so i wouldn't barf.

:-6I politely disagree. I was excited when i heard that there would be an announcement. She is a hard core reporter and professional. She just also has the ability to be cute and charming. I think it's a good move.

No she is not worth it, "no" one is!:rolleyes: Movie Stars, athletes, "no" one is worth multi-millions! It's just a job, not saving the world positions.:-2

"The Sun will still shine tommorrow" even if she does not do the news, or if the Movie star stops making movies, or the if QB does not throw that touchdown pass, or the Slugger does not hit that homerun!

Won't it? (Reasonable salaries S/B in order, even the Pres of USA only makes $400,000/yr. & the Pres can make or break the world)

Whie I agree with the above post that no one should be paid that kind of money for anything - if that is in the ball bark of what news anchors make - then yeah, Katie is worth it.

I have been "watching" the Today show for years. It is my morning background noise. I find Katie, Matt, Anne and Al considerably less annoying then whoever it is on ABC. I am not a big fan of this Merideth Vera (?). I wonder what else is on from 7 t0 9 a.m.

I sure hope that Katie does some Barbara Walters' type shows. My t.v. is stuck on NBC at newstime and try as I might, the remote doen't seem to work from 5 - 7 in the evening.

I've been watching the CBS evening news with Bob Schieffer for quite a while. He's a lot better than Dan Rather was. Katie Couric looks more like someone you'd meet at a night club than someone you'd want to get your news from, but I've never seen her show. I'll give her a chance.

Katie will be fine. She exudes confidence. Her biggest battle will be her coworkers. Andy Rooney stated he loved her but he didnt want her there.

Heck 15 mil, and no more getting up at dark o'clock good gig for Katie she will do fine she always has.

Im with you cars.... who is worth that kind of ridiculous money.. Our teachers are underpaid, and they hold the future of our youth in their hands. Policeman, in a small town like I live in... who risk their lives for public safety, have to work second jobs. The balance of priorities is out of whack. Always has been, and its getting worse. Give the people, the downtroden masses some celebrity to gawk at. Ooh and ahhh over how much money she makes. Keep them glued to the TV to take their mind off what is going on in real life. Shes well spoken and cute??

Im well spoken... well, not so cute.. but they could fix me up!! Im also funny. How come I dont get offered her salary?

You're absolutely right about all the "underpaid" professions in the world. The ones that make our LIVES what & as good as they are! In addition to your referenced professions, I've alway said "Nurses" are severly underpaid. And how about the Military out there getting killed for Bush. School Bus drivers who are charged with all that precious cargo. Bus Drivers & Airplane Pilots & Surgeons who are responsible for thousands on peoples lives each year, the list goes on & on! :-5
