What's the story in this painting? Supposedly, what you see gives some insight into your personality.
When it was shown to me, I saw a woman who I was picking up for a date and her mother telling her "he's handsome." :wah:

I tried to find something different in this than you did just for the sake of being different but I cant. I see the same thing you do.

I can't quite put into words what I "get" from this picture. When I figure it out, I'll post. And where do we find what our interpretation reveals about our personality?

I see the face of a man, but the lips of a woman.
The top she is wearing is a V-neck, which women wear to show a hint of cleavage. Men don't often wear V-necks, usually round necked t-shirts or open-necked shirts. And a manly V wouldn't be as deep as the V of this womans top.
So yep, I think she's a masculine-looking woman, but her lips soften her appearance. They show her feminine side.
I think the old woman behind her portrays the ghost of her grandmother.
You know when, in cartoons, you have an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other and they both whisper at you to do something good or bad?
Well this girl is in a dilemma, and her grandmother whispers good advice that seeps into her mind. Like an old head on young shoulders. This woman will solve her dilemma by choosing the path of wisdom.
This is the type of cartoon I mean: :wah:

Well I see two unattractive people. One looks like a man but with lipstick on, the other is twisted and old, neither look happy...

It's apparently in Augustus John's style, but assuming he painted the original I've no idea how one would easily track it down.
It was copied by Christiana Morgan for inclusion in the standardised Thematic Apperception Test pack of the Harvard Psychology Clinic under Henry Murray. Since then it's been reproduced in several books, notably Understanding Psychology by Charles Morris and Albert Maisto which is still in print.
(Details from the Journal of Personality Assessment, 1995 Oct;65(2):237-54, "Origin and history of the Thematic Apperception Test images").
That might not be the story, but it's a story.

Well at first glance I thought it was a daughter and her mother, but on second glance the person at the front, could resemble a female. The old lady at the back though, looks to me like she is a holdng a mask, preventing anyone from seeing her real face. :-2
I'm really confused now I need a lie down hahaha.

I see the old woman as a sort of ghost whispering something into the woman's ear. She is whispering a warning of some kind.

I see an old woman behind a young man. The old woman had been up to some mischief and the young man is worried about the consequences.
