I dunno if this link will work, but you know it is about time these young kids are given a shake up about wanting to meet people off the net.

Maybe if more adults did 2 things kids would be more cautious

1) parents walk behind your kids often when they are online, if they are clicking and closing windows like mad, look into what they are doing.

2) as a parent get into some of these sites and start spreading the word of the danger out there.

We all know it is just a few clicks away and presto we can be into places like Myspace etc. We can copy and paste any kind of picture we want and pose as whomever we want. And that is just what is happening out there, and the creeps are getting our kids.

And maybe with us parents being nosey, or us parents going online and getting in our kids faces, they will realize they never know who they will meet.

EDUCATE them.....

After that one horrible incident about MySpace, I made my kids pull up theirs and take off anything I thought would suggest who, what, where they were. They were quite smart and didn't have anything very telling, but mother examined and made them delete a few things. Parents should be active in these matters.

The 'History' button will tell you exactly where your kids have been and you can copy and save any conversations they have via MSN etc.

It may not be the nicest thing to do, but at least you know whom they are talking to and what is being said.

You can also see any if there are any sexual connotations which maybe they wouldn't understand.

yep good advise indeed. And you bet CG parents should be active in their kids goings on, when it comes to the net. It isn't a babysitter.

Rapunzel, that is good knowledge to know. I have never done that, but if I got worried I would check up on them. But the computer is in an open area, shared by all, and we know what is going on at the time.

*no, the kids will not tell who will post the egg*

But they help me out sometimes.................................

Got my yahoo account hyjacked once.

And it may not have happened if I hadn't mentioned that I was going to be out of town and offline for a while.

Who ever it was wasn't totally malice as they returned the pasword back to my password before I returned.

darn even if we bribed them?

As well I don't mean to totally slam Myspace here, I know it happens in other sites as well, and I know of people who love Myspace. I just thought it good to post a heads up to anyone and everyone who has kids out there who love the net.

WOW I had my hotmail account hijacked, and I had to plead my case to the MSN admin people to get back into my account. Tis very simple apparently.

that is good as well.

I have got to the point where about every year or so I dump the old account and open a new one and just advise those I care about. It works too.

Ughh Myspace, I went there once, didn't like it. I've had several emails from friends inviting me to join myspace.

On yahoo accounts it's easy to get into another person's account when you know alot about the person. I shut the the whore's(long story) account down. :wah:

what I found out hubby was emailing the lady he had an affair with, and I just shut down her account where she couldn't anymore. Then installed spy software on hubby's puter. But this was a few years ago and things are better now. :D

I'm not that mean and malicios anymore.
