CD you are ashamed of owning?

Color me guilty, but I carry ABBA on the road with me and hide it before my friends go through my case...

"There's an empty space here between A-Ha and AC/DC... You weren't listening to ABBA were you?" I back off with my hands in the air...

They know I know how to alphabetize - and who would own a(n) A-Ha CD if it weren't for that song "Take On Me"? Not coming out of some musical closet, but isn't ABBA really good? And doesn't that A-Ha song make you see the great cartoon video?

Might be wrong, but I hide ABBA - surely you hide a CD - what is it?

Abba, yes...my son bought me an Abba cassette for Mother's Day when he was in his teens. He went into a local store with a friend and it was a sort of "under the counter" exchange. He was mortified and swore his friend to secrecy.

But what goes around comes around. My son and his girlfriend have recently relieved me of my Take That Greatest Hits...although I still own Boyzone Ballads and can't for the life of me remember which was the track I purchased it for...I can't bear to try and find it because I'll have to suffer "no matter what" about three thousand times...

Nah I like the Eagles, but I thought there was rumor out there that Henley has a "thing" for young girls..... Maybe it is all here say I dunno. Perhaps I am way off in left field.

Hurricane Smith's Greatest Hits. I love it, but my goodness I get some stick when I play the thing. He's the guy who sang Don't Let It Die and Oh Babe, either of which ought to stick in the mind for a lifetime.

Then there's my T-Rex CD, and my Tim Curry CD, and my Showaddywaddy CD, and my Barron Knights CD... if anyone knows where I can find a Gary Shearston CD, it'd complete my set.

What we see is what we choose, what we keep or what we lose forever. The world is ours to tear apart but what if it's too late to start again?

I have an Abba box set, which I love. "The Day Before You Came" is my favourite and any group who has a singer that looks like Agnetha can never fill me with shame for liking them. Frida was pretty hot too. I cannot say that I am ashamed of anything I own or I wouldn't own it. Unlike many people I know (some here too I see) I like Michael Bolton a lot (not murdering the standards though). I even like the odd Osmonds and David Cassidy tracks. If I see the Gary Shearston album for whoever asked I will let you know:D Currently listening to Neil Young ...... having a real blast:guitarist

OMG, I've got Showaddywaddy and Barron Knights as well, on LP though not CD.

I haven't listened to any of that stuff for ages!

Also on LP, I've got the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Remember them?

Hubby hides his Pinky and Perky LP, but won't get rid of it cos he reckons it's "worth something"! Yeah, right! :wah:

(((((Rap hides her olde Bay City Roller LP's))))) *blush* :o

Hey, King Tel, (K-Tel??? :wah: ) "The Day Before You Came" has always been my favourite too! ;)

Ahhh now anyone who admits to being a Bay City Rollers fan should be put out of their misery:wah:

The Bonzos were great. "Gorilla" is certainly an album worth having and "I'm The Urban Spaceman" is a truly classic pop song. I have been considering buying one of their compilations for a few months now. It's difficult to find all of the tracks that I like on one album though, without buying a 3CD set, which may be a bit OTT for my taste

GREAT idea for a thread, Bill. I keep most of my jazz stuff hidden, just because most people don't 'get it'. My worst hidden keepsake is actually on LP...yes, The Partridge Family, although I would NEVER stoop so low as to purchase it on CD. I guess my guilty pleasures are Pink, Jennifer Lopez, and Norah Jones CDs; not that girly songs aren't "cool", just probably NOT to my friends. I REALLY like Norah's stuff, while the others just have a couple of songs that I like. I'm really into the duet that J-Lo did with Marc Anthony. I'm always a fan of great male vocalists.

Am I getting my Hurricanes muddled, Spot, because I keep hearing the words "...get together sooner or lat-er because there's something in the air..." Is this the same bloke?

June 1969. :guitarist Pete discovered the band who were very short lived. Speedy Keen & Jimmy McCulloch went on to greater heights after this. Andy Newman disappeared without trace.

I guess I might turn Frampton Comes Alive down a little at a red light. Or the soundtrack to Cirque de Soleil's Allegria.

I have many of Frampton's albums, which I enjoy immensely. Not a great lover of live albums particularly, but that one is one of the best of that genre. I almost got to see him when he was performing with The Herd at the Sunbury Festival in 1968, but some lunatic decided that they were bigger than Jerry Lee Lewis and put him on as the penultimate act. A few over zealous Hells Angels decided otherwise and smashed up the set after Jerry Lee played and so Frampton & Co legged it instead. An excellent set by Rory Gallagher's Taste preceded Jerry Lee, who was also excellent.:D
