Ok --I have found the reason you NEVER lie to your kids.......

OK I really pondered on putting this on here because I don't want you to all think I am some cat killing freak.....but here we go!!!
As some of you know--(because of the cat posting last Sunday) ---We had lost our male cat - Dead Bob to an accident...well He is a tom cat and thinks he is tough s***..well every spring I have to bring him in and get him patched up because he is out sowing his wild oats and meets a mean ol female...
Ok anyway--I should start from the beginning.we obtained this cat several years back because the neighbor had committed suicide over a nasty divorce and when the kids came and cleaned out the house they threw "DEAD BOB" outside...needless to say - we took him in.. He was an outside cat - never needed a litter box..meowed when he needed out and meowed when he wanted in....simple animal -(unless u call 2:30 in the AM meowing outside my bedroom window cuz he was COLD) anyway---
Back to Saturday.... When I let him in -in the middle of the night - I didn't look at him, just opened the slider and in he came...he curled up next to my bed and went to sleep...When I woke - he was STILL there laying in a pool of blood.. I was mortified.. he had been beaten up so badly that I called the vet..of course he was rude cuz it was Saturday and he was on call.....I told him the injuries and he said bring him in...I got there and he told me it was bad--he had gotten some bacteria in his wounds and would have to be on IV's ..etc..and he couldn't guarantee anything..
I knew my 4 kids were going to be heart broken but I asked -how much to put him to sleep?? He said 75$ - and it was going to be around 150$ to fix him....Ok with a sad heart I called my significant other and asked if he could possibly pay for this...beings it was Easter and all.....YEAH RIGHT! He told me I was nuts and to bring the cat home to die...Well I couldn't do that--so I called my mom..who said he was so old and didn't even have his teeth anymore so I should put him down.....I started to cry...and eventually came home with the cat--the vet washed his sores out and called it good...no stitches....
Un -be known to me - my lovely bed partner had called my brother in law and told him to come and get him and "put him out of his misery"...I had gone to WalMart - came home and No DEAD BOB......I cried all Saturday and all day Sunday--I was so angry with him but yet a part of me understood that I just didn't have the finances right now to fix him up-only to have it happen again...The kids came home that afternoon from visiting dad for awhile and I had to tell them that BOB had passed..Of course the tears came and my 6 yr old son says......WHERE did he DIE? - I LIED--and said the vet.......
Moral of the story---Not only Jesus rises from the dead on Easter........
Thursday-yes this is 6 days later- they call me--MOM u r not going to believe this - but Dead Bob AIN'T DEAD- and he is sitting in our living room...My kids are believing in miracles - I am needless to say -speechless - trying to get a hold of my brother in law...who informs me that he opened the hatch to get him out of the box..(he was very weak mind you and just laying in the box) - Ol Bob jumps out of the box and runs into a culvert--and my BIL thinks...well - I am not going in after him...BUT doesn't tell anyone he never got the job done..he figures he is 10 miles out of town and no one will know he didn't do it....Can you believe it? My cat walked 10 miles back into our lives..the kids think he rose from the dead, I am mortified he was sitting in my living room ...and I still had to pay 125$ to fix him cuz I couldn't put him to sleep after the kids saw him! Holy cow.........they couldn't stitch him because it had been to long....but the vet was truly amazed he had lived and gotten home...
I know this was a long story but to hear it 1st person would make you laugh your pants off! So my theory is--NEVER LIE TO YOUR KIDS..after I had to tell them the truth my oldest, as seen in the photo with her cat..says--"mom I am NEVER speaking to you again"-and made it about 2 hours.....:-2 They are all pretty mad at me - but I guess I thought I had done the right thing...but they proved me wrong again......:rolleyes:
