Curious Grandma in Turlock, California

Today when I put gas in my car I paid $2.97 a gallon. When I got home I checked online to see what other stations in town were charging. (I tried to put in the URL of the place where you can check gas prices in your city - and it wouldn't let me). :-3

Posted on the site for MY town;

Lowest - $2.85 gallon

Highest - $3.17 gallon

:-5 What are you paying :-5

Ours is just under 4 Euro a gallon which converts to roughly 3 pounds or 6 dollars.

It doesn't take you any further whatever we pay. :wah:

You won't be able to post links until you've been here a while.

I pay 85p per litre. This is £3-86 per UK gallon which converts to $6.88.

Not forgetting that a US gallon is bigger than a UK gallon. I can't remember the conversion factor off-hand.

I heard on the news today that people are actually going to "Pawn Shops" to get money to "fill up their tanks"!!! They just don't get it, huh?

All they are doing is putting more money in the oil tycoon FAT CAT's pockets, and doing exactly what they want us to do! Run Scared! Right? or Wrong?

Ok, ok, ok ... I know we have been warned for years, and years, and years this would happen .... but as some have mentioned in this thread we all like our :driving: to much to park them for a day ..... in mass .... and see how quickly the "fat cats" decide they don't need quite as much profit as they are getting now!

And the media does not help matters! They yell ~~~FIRE~~~ and these nerds panic thinking that the local gas station is gonna run out of gas!

We do :-4 our :driving: don't we?

I love my car because my husband bought it for my birthday, my first new car ever.

It will be the only new car I ever have.

But I only drive when I have to now, and that is nothing compared to our electric bills in Maryland, no lights or anything is turned on unless it has to be. That increase is worse then gas...................:(

I love the little differences in the way our countries use English. We just call it price-fixing.:)

CDN $1.03 per litre on the northeast shore of Lake Ontario. That's US $0.87, or £0.51 . You Yanks and Brits can figure it out per gallon. (The Imperial gallon is significantly larger than the US gallon. I always thought that was quite silly.)

We’re paying around 8 NIS / litre – that’s around $5,68 per US gallon (remember the US gallon is smaller than the UK gallon)

Really, I thought it was the other way round. So, I 've checked it out now.

1 US pint = 16 fluid ounces whereas 1 Imperial pint is = 20 fluid ounces. Thus, a US gallon is 4/5 of an imperial gallon.
