Yeah, kids, get a load of this: The airlines are talking about packing more

people by having them in a standing section with a padded backboard

and a harness.

Apparently the FAA doesn't say a passenger has to be in a sitting

position, for takeoffs an landings, just that they be secured.

I don't know about you guys but I'd sure never do it!!

:-6You'd have to leave your heels off, and if they gave you too many cocktails you'd need somewhere to sit. :wah:

Maybe the harnesses hang from the ceiling and after a few cocktails you could just dangle ....

Maybe if they'd put a handrail on the leading edge of the wings and we could just lie out there. They could rent us goggles if we want to see.

Just like sides of beef.....

They could put it on a moving track and load and unload quickly.

I can see it now. Male passenger, male passenger, garment bag, toddler seat with toddler, pet carrier, female passenger............... etc.

Or, they could put us in small bunks (like suntanning shells) and stack up floor to celing. They would, of course, be flotable in case of crash. :D

Well you certainly wouldn't catch me wanting to get stuck in a stand only seat, even if it means a cheaper fare. Even though as Snooze says the seating space does tend to be cramped, I really just can't see this catching on.

I just read the whole story on this and the idea still sounds stupid, even though they would 'apparently' only use this idea on short flights. And according to a poll carried out by 2,500 people at the moment, 93% of them agree with me.

I'm sure though if you asked those who do the quick trips to Vegas every weekend, they'd go for it. :wah:

Actually, when you really think about it, standing in a "harness" would not be very comfortable, but more important also it would be a very unsafe flying condition, possibly causing numerous injuries most every time there was even moderate "turbulance"! When you are securred in your "seat" (which is "bolted" into the floor) you are held in the seat with your "seat belt", & you are cinched in tight & you won't be thrown out of it during turbulance. "Standing" harnessed in, most likely your legs would buckle when turbulance bounces the plane up & down! :wah: (It's totally different thing the than "Standing room only" at a Concert concept!:-2 )
