Remember the Alamo!

We'd obviously have to dress for this. Arnold seems perfect to play Davy Crockett, King of the Wild Frontier. I can lose weight, get fit and bring a Bowie Knife. Damn, it's frustrating to run out of names and I refuse to go looking... Snooze, can you dress up as Santa Anna with lots of ribbon and braid?

I can't imagine going to Texas and not making a bee-line for the Alamo, it's the most famous landmark within a thousand miles. Besides, Ozzy and me never lived closer than 50 miles while we were growing up, he's practically a foreigner.

How about if I promise not to fake a Birmingham accent while leaning against the Memorial?

Just so its at the right time of the year Texas in the summer is way to hot for this beach girl..:-6

I just love dry heat.

San Antonio is a great place, lots to do and see and mild weather year round except for the HOT summers, BUT it is a dry heat!!

And Spot can see the Alamo and the rest of the missions! I wonder what I can dress up as?? :yh_think

But, I'm open to going anywhere anytime!!

Do you guys actually think that you will be able to organise an event?? I'm sure that it would be really great if u could, though I bet a lot of preparation would be required to get it sorted out.

There's a nice, new Holiday Inn Express just a minute down the road from me!

(I'm on the northern edge of the city!)

The hotel is on a busy intersection with a Wal-Mart, and LOTS of shopping and restaurants!

And I'm just up the road!

This seems to be coming together really quickly. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have all the arrangements sorted by the end of the month!!

I don't know if San Antonio is official, no one else has commented on here! LOL!

Well I would think that if you all are really serious about it, then of course you are going to have to find the easiest place for a meet, somewhere where everyone is happy with, and then a rough date to meet. After that all the activities and travel arrangements can get sorted out, and soon you will all be excited when the weeks or months start to count down.

And we'd want to give people from outside the US a chance to make the trip too!

Well I'd love to be able to come over to visit all of you in the US, but anything this year would be far too difficult for me. Perhaps you could get a list of all the people that are interested, and then work out the easiest local point for you all and take it from there. Hahaha though I'm really not the exact person to be offering advice to you all, I mean heck I barely get out of my own city, let alone travel places. :wah: I'll just be quiet now.

I would love to make the trip anywhere but i think this year is out. I'll be having baby #2 in Sept and couldn't imagine running around Texas this summer while 7, 8 or 9 months pregnant. After Sept, it would be too difficult to travel with 2 younguns in tow. I'll have to wait a few years to meet many of you, unless you come to Missouri

Hehehe well I'm glad I could be of some help. I would guess that because the Uk meeting was a lot shorter distances to gather, (well by your standards,) that we were able to be a little more relaxed on who could come, but for a US meet I would guess that anyone who puts their name down so to speak, are really up for this, and aren't just saying it for a laugh, as that might cause a problem. We were very lucky as people were able to take time off work to make this work, so I hope that this isn't going to be too much of an issue for you.

Oh I bet, it must be one hell of a challenge to try and sort this out. Well I guess that for those people that can't travel too far from home, that if others are really happy to meet, then the location of those people that have to stay close to home, would be near the area where you should try organising something. Though if that means having to travel across the whole US to do so, then I suppose all you can do is ask yourself, are you really so keen to meet up, as to fly all that way, and spend however long it is over there.

That's quite true, you certainly wouldn't have a hard time getting somewhere to stay or eat, and the transport system is pretty good. Just from having been there, I would say that some people just aren't going to enjoy the 'Vegas atmosphere' and especially for anyone oping to make it from the UK or elsewhere, it may just be too hot for their liking.

That's probably the way to go! Pick a place and time and go for it!

I live in San Antonio. I will be your tour guide. My family came here in the 60's.

1860's. Hurry while the weather is mild. Late June we go into that "hotter than the hinges to the gates of hell" weather.
