Wollemi Pine. 12 in the world
12 years ago a new tree was discovered near Sydney. In Australia, you can now buy seedlings from these trees. What is remarkable is that the area in which they were discovered had never seen human footprints and, what is even more astonishing is that there were only 12 trees found.

Wollemia nobilis [Wollemi Pine] is a remarkable coniferous tree that was discovered in 1994 in a remote series of narrow, steep-sided sandstone gorges in a mild temperate-zone rainforest wilderness area of the Wollemi National Park in New South Wales, 150 km north-west of the Australian city of Sydney.
In popular literature, the tree has been named "Wollemi Pine", though this is a misnomer, as it is not a pine, being related to Kauri and Araucaria in the family Araucariaceae.
