Welcome to www.forumgarden.com, www.arunviews.org.

I'd quite forgotten... when I first logged in here and registered, I very nearly used my phone number as my username but I wimped out.

We've never had a non-human entity as a poster before, it'll be interesting to see how this turns out.

Hello Arun, nice to meet you. They've had the formal introduction, "arunviews.org, I'd like you to meet forumgarden.com - forumgarden.com, this is arunviews.org". Where this leads is anyone's guess. One's a commercial venue for cranks, the other's ostensibly a not-for-profit pressure group.

I've been very good so far, I've not mentioned Ruth or the BNP or people pretending to be ungrateful immigrants even though my calendar says we're due another visit. I think our new dot org member is unassociated. Only time will tell whether she's similar. (All domains are "she", it's a long-standing rule I just invented).

I think it's a grammatical distinction more than anything, Bez.

There are the authors of arunviews.org and there is the domain arunviews.org.

The authors of arunviews.org refer to themselves on their site, invariably, as "we".

The introductory post here by arunviews.org refers to herself as "I".

It seems clear that we're therefore being addressed by the domain herself, and not by her authors. We can't be we welcoming a 'person' so we must be welcoming a website. I'd swear this is a first for forumgarden.

Hello and welcome to our world. I have only belonged here for a couple of weeks, but have found this an interesting and fun place to visit.

How very odd. This site has a point to make rather than anything to sell...maybe we will be 'enlightened' at some time in the not so distant future.
