GRRRR!!!

SIDNEY, Neb. (AP) - A judge said a 5-foot-1 man convicted of sexually assaulting a child was too small to survive in prison, and gave him 10 years of probation instead.

His crimes deserved a long sentence, District Judge Kristine Cecava said, but she worried that Richard W. Thompson, 50, would be especially imperiled by prison dangers.

"You are a sex offender, and you did it to a child," she said.

But, she said, "That doesn't make you a hunter. You do not fit in that category."

Thompson will be electronically monitored the first four months of his probation, and he was told to never be alone with someone under age 18 or date or live with a woman whose children were under 18. Cecava also ordered Thompson to get rid of his pornography.

He faces 30 days of jail each year of his probation unless he follows its conditions closely. "I want control of you until I know you have integrated change into your life," the judge told Thompson. "I truly hope that my bet on you being OK out in society is not misplaced."

That judge is in the wrong job, she was so wrong in my opinion, he wasn't too short to assault the minor, so he should do his time in prison which is less than he deserves anyway. Bring back the birch. :yh_angry grrrr.

Better to put him six feet under.

we can only hope and pray another child's life is not ruined by this child predator. parents in the area he lives should have a copy of his picture displayed in their homes, and teach their children to get-and-stay away from that person, they want to hurt you, stay away from them. You should be able to down-load his photo id from the Megan's Law web site.

To short my A@@! If we can send children to prison for murder, we can send a short person to prison. Good grief, this judge is a few apples short of a bushel in my opinion. Must of got her law degree from a cracker jack box or something. Sheesh! :-5

I never knew there was a height requirement to be sent to prison. Maybe the judge should be told that *she* is too short to serve as a judge....short on brains and common sense.:-5

How do we contact this brainless idiot? I'd love to send her a letter and give her a piece of my mind. Sounds like she could use all she can get. What a total travesty.

thanks for that, and I would be sure to put on there, that I don't think the offender took into account the size of his victim!!!!!

How about putting him on the rack, and make him taller, and then send him to prison.

Or set up a prison for vertically challenged offenders. Cells don't need to be so big, and maybe the food bill will be lower.
