I looked it up and it seems a good idea, but the website doesn't give a lot of detail apart from the fact that you can use at 'millions' of high street stores.
http://www.splashplastic.com
Quick Edit...if you actually click to apply for the card there is much more detail and you can use where ever maestro and solo are accepted.
good present for someone ....

I've heard of them, they are good to use when kids go away to college. You put so much on the card-and they can use it for supplies, books, etc.

There's a name for it, but I obviously suck at money management. Anyway, its treated exactly as a credit card because it is.
There's another thingy where you pay for something sort of like a gift cert that's good at various businesses, but those are pretty limited.
I hope my words of wisdom helped.
No Snooze it's not really a credit card it's pre payment card , you go to the post office if i'm correct and say you want to top it up with $50 you then have that amount to spend . I think it's more for kid's .

No, we have them just about everywhere, Snooze. Easy to get, because it's cash up front.

Some of the banks here offer them..especially for the college kids. You can load them ub with a set amount, and reload it when needed. I think it igreat for teaching the kinds how to budget thier money, and helps the parent keep track of how much they are spending.

They are every where, prepay cell phones you name it. College kids use them so they won't go nuts with credit slows them down.
If you have a debit card from your bank that can be used as a credit card you already have a prepay credit card, it you don't have money in the bank whoops you can't buy it..
